Instead of connecting to the database I get this error: Error creating SQL Model Connection to New Derby.(Error: Failed to create database '/home/cuco/DerbyDatabases/MyNewDB') Error creating JDBC Connection to New Derby - Failed to create database THanks for any help Report message to a moderator Re: Derby fails to create database [message #46651 is a reply to message #46629] Thu, 10 July 2008 14:52 Eclipse User Originally posted by: brianf.sybase.com I'm wondering if this is a permissions issue in that particular directory? I can't say that I've tested the Derby functionality on a Linux or UNIX machine. Was the "Create Database (if required)" checkbox checked and did ";create=true" appear in the URL in the wizard page where you configured your Derby connection? --Fitz "Adam

Description Olivier Cailloux 2009-08-03 11:40:11 EDT Build ID: I20090611-1540 I just installed https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=285461 eclipse 3.5 platform and Hibernate Tools 3.3.0.M2-N200907092133-H355 from JBoss developer update site (as well as a few other plug-ins). Now I have an error when I try to connect to my MS SQL database through Hibernate tools. The error seems to be caused by DTP rather than Hibernate (no hibernate specific class in the stack trace), and max from Hibernate tools asked me to report it here. I have a project dependant on hibernate-annotations 3.4.0 GA (from pom.xml). (Maven thus adds hibernate-core 3.3.0 SP1 and other required dependencies on the build path). The MS SQL driver is also on that project build path. I have configured a MS SQL JDBC driver in eclipse, Preferences / Data management / Connectivity / Driver Definitions, where I added sqljdbc4.jar from sqljdbc_2.0. Then I created a Hibernate console configuration, type JPA, referencing the project, created a new Database connection referencing the MS SQL JDBC driver (the ping test works), referenced my property file, and referenced the persistence unit defined in that property file. Now when I trigger a 'create connection' in Hibernate tools by expanding the console configuration node, it says after a few seconds that it couldn't connect. The

This section will demonstrate using Derby from a stand-alone Java application. This example will access the data in our sample database, myDB, which contains the restaurants table. By following the two ij sections in the help, this database and table will have already been created and ready to use. If you have not created the database and the table return to the ij sections and create them now. The first time I ran it it seemed to work fine. However, when I closed MyEclipse and came back later I got the error stack below. For some reason, it no longer wants to connect: I'm getting connection refused messages now. Any suggestions? I'm able to go to the database perspective and view the tables fine (I also tried to close the database perspective). This is my biggest fear with using MyEclipse for Spring: there is SO much generated code, if something doesn't work, I could have a nightmare debugging situation. Look forward to your reply.
