Description Olivier Cailloux 2009-08-03 11:40:11 EDT Build ID: I20090611-1540 I just installed eclipse 3.5 platform and Hibernate Tools 3.3.0.M2-N200907092133-H355 from JBoss developer update site (as well as a few other plug-ins). Now I have an error when I try to connect to my MS SQL database through Hibernate tools. The error seems to be caused by DTP rather than Hibernate (no hibernate specific class in the stack trace), and max from Hibernate tools asked me to report it here. I have a project dependant on hibernate-annotations 3.4.0 GA (from pom.xml). (Maven thus adds hibernate-core 3.3.0 SP1 and other required dependencies on the build path). The MS SQL driver is also on that project

Error http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7603813/cant-connect-to-derby-database-if-derby-jar-is-in-eclipse-workspace creating SQL Model Connection connection to New Derby. (Error: null) java.lang.NullPointerException Error creating JDBC Connection connection to New Derby. (Error: null) java.lang.NullPointerException While I was trying this the derby.jar file containing the driver was inside "workspace/myproject/lib" folder. Then I put the same exact file to my Desktop, set the driver to point to the new location of my derby.jar and all started to work automagically... I did some experiments and it happens that it works everywhere EXCEPT when I put inside my Eclipse workspace folder. Why? And most important: if I want to deploy my application on different machines do I need the derby.jar inside my project folder (and thus inside the .jar of my project)? Thanks in advance to everyone EDIT: I already added derby.jar to the project through Eclipse interface, here's how: java eclipse derby workspace eclipse-dtp share|improve this question edited Sep 29 '11 at 22:25 asked Sep 29 '11 at 21:54 Alex 176312 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote You have to add the jar file using eclipse's interface. It says lccalhost instead of localhost. Try: jdbc:oraclethin:©localhost:1521:db Furthermore, your log says mydb instead of db as stated in your connection settings. So, this may be another possible cause of fault. share|improve this answer answered May 23 '14 at 6:13 Peter Keller 4,7732818 @Rahulbujji If the answer helped you, you may mark it as correct –Peter Keller May 30 '14 at 16:23 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft di
