I designed a dress up game and had a programmer write some actionscript so that players would be able to drop/drag clothing and it would click to the model. For some reason I am unable to test the movie. I get this error: "Error creating Flash Movie: Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check to make sure the name is not too long" I saw this error on a previous post and someone said you must go to Publish Settings and check the location of your file, because the error means it has been moved from it's original location (which I assume is the programmers machine) since there is a looong file path that seems to be from his machine. What do I do? I'd also like to be able to reuse this actionscript for another game and am unable to do that also. Any help is greatly appreciated. 04-30-200802:03 PM # ADS Advertisement by Join Date Always Posts Many 05-02-200802:23 AM #2 NTD View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Visit Homepage Moderator Moderator Join Date May 2004 Location U.S.A. Posts 2,890 Hi, You may have a corrupt file. This occasionally occurs with .fla files. You can try a couple of things, first....try saving the file under a different name. Reopen the new file and test. If that doesn't work, try creating a new file, copy the timeline and paste it to the new file. Save this file and te

Right-click the file, click properties and make sure "read-only" isn't ticked. If it is then uncheck the box. 2] Are you trying to run your Flash movie from another drive that Flash can't write to? when flash publishes a movie it needs to create a .swf in the same directory a
there isn't a lot of info on the web. Scenario: We are in a shared environment. Central file server (Mac OS X server) over gigabit enet. We open flash files http://flash.bigresource.com/Flash-Professional-Error-creating-movie-file-Be-sure-the-destination-is-not-locked-or-on-a-locked-drive-S6BfjxTMS.html over the network and then we "try" to publish the files back to the same https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/190/862779 server in which the .fla is stored. (I have read John at Adobe's comments on the practice but this DID work). So we access the flash file at /Volumes/ServerName/JobFolder/~Flash/ and we "attempt to" publish the .swf to /Volumes/ServerName/JobFolder/htmlfolder/flash .... this was working previously in flash 6-7 but in 8-cs3 it has stopped working and we are kicking ourselves error creating to get some answers. When we try to publish we get the following error: "Error creating Flash movie file. Be sure the destination is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long." Nov 16, 2011 I'm considering making a Flex/AS3 based web application but worrying about some error creating swf employers (i.e. potential customers) that don't have access to Flash plug in version 9 and up. Why? Maybe their corporate standard for browser is old; maybe they lock down employees computers which prevents users to download and install the plug-in or an alternate browser; maybe Flash's ubiquity goes away in the next 3 years given Adobe's recent announcements; etc.Anyway, my question is, would it be possible to insert a USB Flash drive into the client computer in question and run a Browser having flash (e.g. chrome) on the USB drive (assuming such a browser has already been installed on the USB drive), to access the web application with full functionality? I'm just trying to think of workarounds if my customer doesn't have flash plug-in and can't download to install it. • Cannot export Quicktime movie by Brian Covalt on Oct 9, 2008 at 7:45:28 pm When I try to export a Quicktime movie from the Export>Export Movie, I get this error message: Error creating Flash movie file. Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long. A few things I've tested: • Saving to different drives - all of which are not locked. • changing the file name to one single word followed by .mov • saving the flash file as a new file and trying again • opening the file on a different machine and exporting None of these have fixed the problem. Every time I get the same error. I've been able to export swf movies and also JPEG sequences, but I'd much rather be able to export the Quicktime movie since I need to bring this into FCP and the Flash movie has sound in it as well, so with the JPEG sequence I'd have to lay in the audio again. Have you discovered any answers to your posting? NboiacksReturn to posts indexReport Post•Re: Cannot export Quicktime movieby Brian Covalt on Nov 6, 2008 at 6:01:54 pmNope. My only solution was to export an image sequence from Flash. I then had to create a new sequence in Final Cut with those images and then nest that into my main sequence. Kinda stinks. I think Flash just sucks with quicktime. I remember about a year ago I was on the phone with Adobe's Flash support about problems with quicktime and in the end they concluded that it just doesn't work well and called my problem a "bug". He also mentioned that it wouldn't be a priority of theirs to resolve this issue. But what boggles my mind is how so many animation studios still rely on this program given its problems? I guess they're not exporting quicktimes...Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: Cannot export Quicktime movieby nellsson boijacks on N
