I remembered that there were issue were issues with HP bios from the VirtualBox FAQ using ENABLE VT-X/AMD-V: some HP BIOSES have a glitch, When You ENABLE VT-X/AMD-V, You DISABLE it, so do try both ways. So the first solution I tried was to uncheck the box to ENABLE VT-X/AMD-V. That solved my problem. Now VirtualBox was able to start my Ubuntu https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/9190 machine. Check the screenshot how to disable (or enable the) VT-X/AMD-V setting. Yep, I know this is against the advice I gave to improve VirtualBox performance. However I need it on this hardware to get my machines running… This entry was posted in Oracle, VirtualBox and tagged Oracle, VirtualBox on 2013/02/22 by PeterPaul. It is working! rfariya 2013/12/07 at 4:41 pm Hi. I had the same problem, but even with enabling the virtualization Technology in my BAIOS it didn't work and it gave me the same error. After a bit searching I figured out that it is a bug in hp Baios and you should not just restart your system, but do completely shutdown and then it would work. seshu 2014/02/13 at 12:15 pm The amount of memory allocated to these VMs is also uncomfortably close to the total amount of available memory in the host (4.3GB available, 4GB allocated as RAM, more as VRAM). In an ideal world your VM should not use more than half the available host memory, otherwise wierd intermittent problems are the likely result. Descrese VM RAM to less than half physical RAM memory. oliver_me03 2014/04/30 at 8:08 am Thanks! This works for me 🙂 mehmet 2015/04/27 at 8:47 pm oracle vm box worked on my win 8.1 asus desktop pc before I extended hard drive partition. After it did not work.my cpu I-5 supports
MSR. (VERR_VMX_MSR_LOCKED_OR_DISABLED) June 3, 2013 luiscberrocal Leave a comment Go to comments I recently got a Oracle VM Virtualbox appliance. After I imported it I got the following error when I tried to start it. But since my virtual machine was 64-bits hardware virtualization is required. So if I disabled the Enable VT-x/AMD the virutal machine would not boot. My problem error creating was that virtualization settings on my pc were disabled. I have a Dell T5500. So I followed the following steps to activate my hardware virtualization settings: Reboot the pc. Press F12 when the boot process starts Select change settings Select Virtualization Support> Virtualization check the Enable Intel(R) Virtualization Technology Select Virtualization Support > VT for Direct I/O check Enable Intel(R) VT for Direct I/O Now the virtual machine boot without any problem. She has to use windows because some program she runs to print stuff. anyway, i've been trying to run sun's virtual box to install ubuntu and use this thing for something other than just coupon printing. After I install virtual box I am getting the following error. "failed to start the virtual machine Fah Unknown error creating VM (VERR_VMX_MSR_LOCKED_OR_DISABLED). anyone seen this? I don't know what verr_vmx_msr even is, or why it would be locked or disabled. so far all i've tried is search for verr_vmx_msr and found nothing, and uninstalled, re downloaded and reinstalled VB That'll do Donkey, that'll do. You will have to run 10 WU's with the passkey first if you haven't done so yet. That's the only time I would recommend a VM with your wife's machine, if she doesn't have 10 yet. After that I'd run SMP2 for the bonus. Reply With Quote 04-01-10,02:21 PM #3 bettik View Profile View Forum Posts Registered Join Date Mar 2009 ^+1.
