I have been investigating the issue for the last couple of days now and it has driven me nuts! I found the following on MSDN forums The solution by Hans Passant at this MSDN Forum And according to the answer it has something to do with the active MDI child being in maximized state. The given solution is to set the active child in normal window state before showing the new tab and then restore it afterwards. This solution works but I really dislike the flickering that the workaround causes. The stack trace is as follows: Error creating window handle: at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.WindowClass.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.CreateHandle(CreateParams cp) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateHandle() at System.Windows.Forms.Form.CreateHandle() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.get_Handle() at System.Windows.Forms.Form.SetVisibleCore(Boolean value) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.Show() at Client.UI.WinForms.Controls.TabManager.OpenNewTab(BaseTab2 tab) in WinForms\Forms\Tabs\TabManager.cs:line 82 at Client.UI.WinForms.Controls.TabManager.OpenTab(BaseTab2 tab) in WinForms\Forms\Tabs\TabManager.cs:line 183 at Client.UI.WinForms.MainForm.buttonLicenses_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) in WinForms\Forms\MainForm.cs:line 4372 Code: private void OpenNewTab(BaseTab2 tab) { tab.MdiParent = MainForm.Instance; tab.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized; tab.Show(); <----- [EXCEPTION THROWN HERE] if (tab.Path != String.Empty) { RecentManager.Add(tab.Path); RecentManager.SetOpen(tab.Path, true); } } UPDATE: Found this at Microsoft support This can occur when both the following conditions

2016 11:07 AM Reply I have a dialog that has several Infragistics controls on it - all 15.2 versions latest build. The controls are http://www.infragistics.com/community/forums/t/105443.aspx mostly buttons, a check box, and a few text boxes. My customers http://www.telerik.com/forums/exception-error-creating-window-handle-in-radform are getting the following error message but I cannot recreate it. Unlike other messages, there are also no line numbers to steer me in the right direction. Any ideas on what could be causing this? If your application is failing on CreateHandle, then it's most likely caused by a GDI memory leak. The Physical memory numbers you listed here aren't really relevant to that - you need to look at the number of handles created. In any case, this kind of thing generally happens if you application is creating a lot of windows or images and not properly disposing them. This could be something your code is doing, or it's possible it's a bug somewhere in the controls. But without being able to reproduce it, there's not much anyone can do to track it down. If it were me, I'd check the code for places where you are created, loading, or assigning images and make sure those images are properly disposed when they are no longer needed. I use RadControls Q3 2010 and Windows 7 Professional. I have an exception in a particular case, and I recreate it in a very simple test project: 1. With VB.net 2008 Express Edition, create a new Windows Form Application. 2. Add reference to Telerik.WinControls and Telerik.WinControls.UI. 3. In the designer of the form, replace the line "Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Form" with "Inherits Telerik.WinControls.UI.RadForm". 4. Run the project. Now you have to open at least 2 windows of type "explorer", see Image1.png attached. Click on the document icon in the bottom bar to reproduce the situation in the Image1. Two small preview windows will be displayed by Windows 7. Click again, to make them disappearing, and an exception will be thrown (Image2). How can I solve this problem?
