I am using a LG 22x DVD-RW Burner Manufacturer : HL-DT-ST Model : DVD-RAM GH22LP20 Revision : 1.01 It has no jumpers on the back of the drive and is connected as Master on the only IDE port I have on my motherboard. (It's a Non-SATA drive) Media wise I am using brand name Memorex discs that I haven't had an issue with before. Errors occur at 16x or even 4x (16x rated discs) I am not sure if this issue occured after SP1 or on a fresh install. However I did upgrade the burner as I first suspected a drive malfunction. This one is brand new and gives an identical error. It seems it won't write the "Lead-In" information but will burn some useless data to the disc before it spits out the error. DMA should be turned back on. CRC errors can occur due to copy protection not removed from the source and, in your case, I'd say a poor choice of media. Retry your project using

CRC Error Hi, I'm new here. just joined the forum today. I have this problem which I have never encounter before. Hope all the experts here could help me out. I've recently assembled my new PC with help from a friend. I have 1 DVDROM drive (LG GCR8163B) and 1 DVD-Writer (LG GS-4166B). I tried to burn some data from hard disk using Nero 7.0.8.2 and I got the following error http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/190774-dma-driver-error-crc-error-while-burning.html message: "DMA Driver Error. CRC Error". I also tried dvd to dvd copy but got the same error. My DVD Writer is Primary Master and DVDROM Primary slave. I swap them around and still get the same error. I then unplug my DVDROM leaving only the DVD Writer. This apparently worked. I also did some experimenting by going into device manager, ATAPI CONTROLLER and changing all primary and secondary transfer mode to PIO. This work but problem is great slow down in speed. Hope somebody http://www.techimo.com/forum/technical-support/174751-dma-driver-error-crc-error.html here can help me out. It's horribly slow and will eat up your processor cycles! Are you using an 80-wire IDE cable? The extra wires improve error rates and are mandatory for the higher transfer rates. How fast are you burning the DVDs? Are you exceeding the speed rating of the media. Sometimes when burning at the maximum rated speed, you'll still get errors so it may help to burn a little below the maximum speed. Also try upgrading the firmware of your DVD burn

HMM; the title "dma driver error ..." is not related at all to CD or DVD issues. DMA is explained in this wiki Aug 19, 2011 #2 zychme TS Rookie Topic Starter Then is it related to the software i'm using? Which Nero I get the "DMA Driver error, CRC error" title. I'm just not sure what I should do with the computer set up I have. But here goes.... For the past couple of months I've been trying to get my machine to burn DVDs, ever since I became seriously infected with malware, I desperately need to back up my hard drive. So I got a local repair shop to fit me with a DVD writer when the repaired my computer, seemingly a good deal. Until i realize they had mistakenly put a DVD rom into my machine instead of a DVD writer. Doh So I took it back and they swapped it for the correct drive and fitted a Pioneer DVD-RW 111 D. But now I can't get that to work either! It's really annoying me and I feel like throwing the whole lot out of the window with myself not far behind it! I'm using Nero and some 8x DVD-R and I don't get why it keeps saying "DMA-driver error, CRC error Burn process failed at 8x (11,080 KB/s)" every time I try to write a disk. Why is it so complicated trying to do something as simple as burning onto a DVD Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
