it is using Crystal 8.The error I'm getting is "Run time error 20534, Error detected by database dll". When I step through in the crystal reports 8.5 error detected by database dll debugger, the offending line in the VB code is the ".Action=1" command that I understand actually executes the report. From what I read online, the 20534 error is mostly a generic crystal message that covers a variety of things. For error detected by database dll accpac the database dll message, most things point to a problem in the query the report is running. Here's the problem - I can open and run the report in report designer just fine. No problems at all. In fact, I can debug the VB, and while it's sitting at the .Action line erroring out, I can open the .rpt file and run it and it pulls the current data I'm expecting. What the heck do I try next? work on the same server that this is running from, and reinstalling crystal isn't really an option. Is there a DLL I can try and reregister? Is there something else to try? Thanks much for ANY ideas or help! 17410Views Re: VB6 Crystal 8 run time error 20534 "error detected by database dll" Brian Dong Jun 3, 2009 11:31 PM (in response to Pete Tirrell) Currently Being Moderated Hi,I am so glad the OCX is no longer used in the newer versions. It was simple to use but a pain to troubleshoot. 1) Is your application logging the report onto the database? See if it's using LogonServer or SetNthTableLogon methods. This is the most common reason for this problem. If the database has moved and the report isn't able to logon, you'll get this error. 2) If you open the report in Crystal and point it to the current database, does the report give a message about the database changing? If it does, go to Database | Verify on Every Print and resave the report. 3) What database are you using? Good luck,Brian Alert Moderator Like (0) Re: VB6 Crystal 8 run time error 20534 "error detected by database dll" Pete Tirrell Jun 4, 2009 12:22 AM (in response to Brian Dong) Currently Being Moderated Thanks for the tips! My reports are all in a folder on the server (they are designed using Crystal reports v8.5) When I try to run my program from http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?245804-quot-Error-detected-by-database-DLL-quot the server, everything works fine. When I run my program from the client pc's everything also works fine, except for the reports. They aren't appearing in the screen and instead I get an error message: "Error Detected by Database DLL" (or smthg like that) I thought maybe it's because on the server I have Crystal Report installed. So I tried to install it on the client PC, but I get the same message. Please help me. What can I do? What's causing this problem? Is the db password protected? If so, you must supply the necessary login data: Set Report = crxApplication.OpenReport("Y:\DAD\QCInspectionOut.rpt", 1) For Each crxDatabaseTable In Report.Database.Tables If UCase(crxDatabaseTable.Name) = "TMPQC1" Or UCase(crxDatabaseTable.Name) = "TMPQC17" Or UCase(crxDatabaseTable.Name) = "TMPQC25" Or UCase(crxDatabaseTable.Name) = "TMPQC33" Or UCase(crxDatabaseTable.Name) = "TMPQC41" Or UCase(crxDatabaseTable.Name) = "TMPQC9" Or UCase(crxDatabaseTable.Name) = "TMPQCINSPOUT" Then crxDatabaseTable.LOCATION = "Y:\DAD\Temporary.mdb" Else crxDatabaseTable.SetLogOnInfo "", "", "", "password-here" crxDatabaseTable.LOCATION = "Y:\DAD\Techni.mdb" End If Next crxDatabaseTable

When I try to verify/execute the report after going into crystal report (4.6 ver), a popup asking the password for the access database (??) opens and on pressing okay or cancel gives the error "Error detected in database dll". This report runs fine on the development pc where the mdac ver is 2.6. The client on which I'm trying to load the software also has mdac 2.6 loaded. However on running MDAC Component Checker I find that Odfox32.dll (ODBC (3.0) driver for foxpro) does not appear in the list of ODBC drivers on the client computer while it is very much appearing when Comchecker is run on Development machine. I included explicitly in the setup package but it still does not work. I would appreciate if somebody can enlighten me. | Pos
