Error Found With Qsh Session Reason Code 4 Errno 3489
not available to complete request Subject: RE: Error found with QSH session, reason code 4, errno 3489: System resources not available to complete request From: "Clapham, Paul" Date: Thu, 13 Mar 2003 13:13:33 -0800 List-archive: List-help: List-id: Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 List-post: List-subscribe: , List-unsubscribe: , This sounds like the problem I was having a year or so ago, although it was with V4Rx. When Qshell runs a Java program it creates a new job to run it in; if the subsystem it was running in already had its maximum number of jobs running, an error like this one occurred. (The "resource" in question was a job slot in a batch subsystem.) Eventually I got tired of being called about this error and just did CHGSBSD MAXJOBS(*NOMAX) on all the batch subsystems. This could be your problem, I suppose. Error found with QSH session, reason code 4, errno 3489 (from a QSH0002 message) Checking the archives, I found the link: http://archive.midrange.com/java400-l/200106/msg00051.html But no one really explains *WHY* "System resources not available to complete request", or how to avoid it in the future. The message itself has no second-level explanation. Can anyone explain what's going on? Also, I noticed that there's a Retry option for this message. It's too late for this go-round, as someone already cancelled the job, but would a Retry after waiting a minute or two be worthwhile? Thanks! Dan Bale Related ... This thread ... Just configuration. As I said, I couldn't swear that it was errno 3489, because it was closer to 2 http://archive.midrange.com/java400-l/200303/msg00059.html years ago, but it sure sounds familiar. QSH0002 received by procedure DC@LOAD250. (C D I R) The error is caused by the fact that the install/upgrade uses a jobq/subsystem that does not allow QSHELL jobs to run or there is not enough MAXJOBs value for the subsystem. This situation is documented in the Troubleshooting section of the Installing LANSA on iSeries Guide.Solution:The generic solution is to use a jobq/subsystem that allows QSHELL jobs to run or to increase the MAXJOBs value in the subsystem that was originally used.If this error occurs while applying an EPC to V11.0, ensure the following steps are completed:Backup all the LANSA libraries and the LANSA IFSBackup or Rename the LANSAECXXX libraryDelete the EPC work library LANSAINS02Remove or clear the EPC log file DC@FEPUse a jobq/subsystem that allows QSHELL jobs to run or increase the MAXJOBs value in the subsystem that was originally used© 2016 LANSA.
