Hi. I'm getting an error message when downloading/installing the new patch: "There was an error generating the hash code for a patch file" The file is was trying to download is: raw/en/vignette_videos/vignette_m It actually finishes downloading, but then a red X appears and it displays the error message. It's been about a week since I played, so obviously there's been a patch that screwed things up. I haven't changed anything on my side since I last played and refuse to download and reinstall unless someone can tell me it's a SURE fix. It took me a VERY long time to download before, so I don't want to just guess. I did a search on Google for this error message and saw that DDO had the same issue a while back. One person said to reinstall the new splash screen, which doesn't apply to us. Another said it's server side, which I can believe. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks! apparently the Hash code error is all the end users fault (sarcasm). In my hour long chat with technical support we went through all the basics, checked firewalls, and finally https://www.ddo.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-136263.html?s=fcb43d64dada0636b8b758e1fc11f48f was told that my internet connection was too "unstable" because it took over 22 hops to trace route to the update server. Mind you all those hops were within 100ms or less (most http://delica.dyndns.pro/1747-there-error-generating-hash-code-patch.html around 20-40ms) and also probably 75% were after it hit the Charter backbone but it according to Roy (my support rep) it was my issue. Funny thing (that I repeatedly pointed out) is error generating I was updating Lord of the Rings Online (another Turbine product) just fine the entire time. That update was running at around 100-150 KB/s with no problems, but according to Roy that could have died at any minute. As I write this however I am over 2000 files into the LOTRO patch with still no problems. I expect my computer to explode at any moment with such error generating hash an unstable connection as this. In the end the only thing that worked was to wait and keep trying. My guess is that server or something on Turbine's end is overloaded with trying to release Book 12 (large LOTRO patch) and this DDO patch on the same day. I have included the complete transcript (edited only my name and tracert info) for everyone's entertainment and training (on how not to handle a service call). So much for how you treat a customer of two of your games and a person who was even part of the DDO open Beta test and provided feedback to try and improve the game two years ago.
