I have this question too Close Q: A File Error Has Occurred (Word) All replies Helpful answers by Thomas Bauer,★Helpful Thomas Bauer Sep 2, 2009 2:35 AM in response to Courtney Lee Level 3 (615 points) Sep 2, 2009 2:35 AM in response to Courtney Lee Hi, Courtney Lee have you made sure that you can write into the "Documents" folder? try to put another file, possibly through another application, into the "documents" folder.Another thing which might be blocking to write the file is that it exists at the given location, and that it is write-locked. Go to the location, click ONCE the file (to highlight it), then click "cmd-i" simultaneously. You will get another little window with info about the file. Check (under "General") that "locked" is not enabled. If it is enabled, click on it to desable it.Hope this helps. Because really what you need is help troubleshooting Word 2011 for the Mac, but you're muddying the waters with Boot Camp for some reason. I think where you're going with your questions about "installing Boot Camp" is that you somehow came up with the idea of running the Windows version of Word in a Boot Camp install. And the simple answer to that question is no, this is not necessary. The Mac version of Word should work just fine. You've just got a problem with your particular install. The first thing I'd say to do to troubleshoot this issue is to open up Word by itself. Click the Help menu and choo
2009. Just Michael Guest I'm using Word for Mac 2008. Suddenly, when I try to save a file (that I have been editing for the past few weeks), I get this error message: A file error has occurred. Check your http://www.office-forums.com/threads/a-file-error-has-occurred-check-your-network-connections.1654365/ network connections or make sure the disk is properly inserted and not defective." I am not using a network or any kind of external disk. I can save it as a *.doc file, but not as a *.docx file. http://word.mvps.org/mac/word2008issues.html Just Michael, Sep 17, 2009 #1 Advertisements Terry Farrell Guest It suggests that the file may be partially corrupt. Try saving it as an XML file, close it, open it and SaveAs a docx file again. If it fails error has again, try running the Office Repair from Office Setup. -- Terry Farrell - MSWord MVP "Just Michael" <> wrote in message news:... > I'm using Word for Mac 2008.
