I use boot disks, setup loads, I choose the formatted partition to install on, then for a split second it looks like it's going to start copy files for the actual setup. then Bam! I get an error that says something about sp4.cab being corrupted or something. so.....sp4.cab The only thing I know sp4 to mean is service pack 4.but I don't know. Now, the strange thing is that this has happened twice! . with two different disks. After the first time the error occurred, I got another cd and tried that. Since it happens on both disks, I'm thinking that it could somehow be the pc and not the disk, though I have no idea how that could be. If anyone can tell me what's going on, or give me a link to a win2k disk they know works, I'd be very appreciative. PS. SOmeoe suggested to me that I am using "the original disks with a sp4 slipstreamed install" and that's why it's not working. I haven't been able to follow up with that yet, though. Re: Error While Installing Win2K in S5000VSA edwardzh Apr 20, 2010 9:07 AM (in response to rrcmum) Windows 2000 is not validated on S5000VSA, so some driver may be https://communities.intel.com/thread/12632 missing or not working. Which driver are you installing? Did you use a tested USB floppy drive to load the driver? Check http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/S5000VSA/sb/CS-022697.htm. I highly recommend you to switch to Windows Server 2003. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Re: Error While Installing Win2K in S5000VSA Aryan2411 Apr 20, 2010 9:07 AM (in response to rrcmum) Hello,Bear in mind that you are installing an OS which has not been validated on this board. So there wont be any drivers for W2k.Here is the list on which OS have been validated:http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/S5000VSA/sb/CS-022698.htmTry to disable Core Multi Processing in the Bios.Go to Advanced >> Processor Configuration >> Disable Core Multi ProcessingOne more thing:Can you try to install the OS as a non-raid configuration.Configure SAS/SATA as RAID >> Disable. All the best,Kind Regards,Aryan. Computer: Specs Experience: Experienced OS: Windows XP Win2K Pro Service Pack error installing 4 install fails, stimon.exe error « on: August 16, 2012, 04:49:40 AM » I am currently updating a Compaq Armada M300 (s/n 1J17JKB5E00W) as far as it can be, given system limitations. It has Windows 2000 Pro with SP2 on it now. I tried installing SP4, but it fails with this error..."The file c:\winnt\system32\stimon.exe is open or in use by another program." I looked error installing win2k in Task Manager, Running Tasks, Services, and MSConfig for stimon.exe or stisvc. It was not listed in any of those places, either as running or not running. I am confused. What program could be using stimon.exe if it's not listed at all? IDK how to tell if it's copied/cracked/pirated or not. The only way I know past this error is to wipe and install a known-legitimate version. Or install XP as this system meets minimum requirements (though it'll never be

It is presented here in the hope that it will encourage readers to explore BIND 9 in what is becoming an increasingly ubiquitous platform and especially since some of the changes in procedure illustrated reflect current Windows architectural changes (especially in the area of security practices) and therefore are likely to be more useful over time. The installation process was found to be fast and, relatively, simple. Note: Many people - especially those who like to experiment - lose patience with the User Account Control (UAC) features of modern Windows platforms (Vista, Server 2008+, 7 and 10 - we will mercifully draw a veil over Windows 8) and turn it off completely.
