I then installed Adobe Design Premium CS4, including Adobe Acrobat Pro. I use IE8 and Firefox 3.6.FYI, this problem does not occur in Windows Vista or lower...only Windows 7.The problem is that when I click on internet explorer error message cannot display webpage links to PDF documents that open in a browser window, a blank error message box will sometimes popup and nothing else happens (see blank error box below). But other times when I click on the same PDF, it will open just fine. I tried opening it four times in a row, and it worked 3/4 times. Then, I did it four times again, and it only worked 1/4 that time. Totally random. So I tried clearing the browser cache - no luck.Tried reinstalling Adobe Reader 9.3 - no luck.Tried uninstalling Adobe.com and Adobe AIR - no luck.Tried both IE8 and Firefox - both randomly showed the blank error box.The PDF documents are being rendered through PHP, so I also tried changing the PHP header(), but the same blank error box kept randomly showing up.What in the world is going on here? I have the same question Show 0 Likes(0) 101196Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Show 35 replies 1. Re: Open PDF in bro

a strange adobe acrobat reader error popping up around the place that just pops up with a blank error box with a question mark and no clue to what the error is.It looks something like thisThe error usually occurs when you try and open a pdf file from within your web browser, try different browsers to see if its only happening with a particular browser (most common for internet explorer and mozilla firefox)Steps to correct this issue1. Update Adobe Acrobat Reader open up adobe acrobat reader click Help -> Check for Updates you may need to restart your computer2. Reinstall Adobe Acrobat readeruninstall and reinstall adobe acrobat reader, the issue is sometimes caused by a bad pdf plugin in your web browser. try switching web browsers and reinstalling the pdf plugin.3. Uncheck open PDF within web browserthis will usually fix the issue instead of choosing to open the pdf within the web browser itself, the pdf file will just open up acrobat reader before trying to open the file, pretty much the same thing anywayEdit - > Preferences -> Internet Tab Posted by beanie27 at 9:32 PM Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest Labels: acrobat reader blank error, adobe question mark error, question mark acrobat reader 10 comments: AnonymousJune 7, 2011 at 8:32 AMStep 3 is NOT a valid solution for anyone that uses fillable forms that auto-fill from a website. Would like to find a better solution.ReplyDeleteRepliesAnonymousMarch 26, 2014 at 5:33 AMTHIS WORKED...I can't believe it. thanksDeleteReplyAnonymousMay 12, 2013 at 9:22 PMyes changing theme works thanks a lotReplyDeleteAnonymousApril 17, 2014 at 9:10 AMAs weird
