POSSIBLE FIX!!!! 8 posts, 1 page 1 DizzyDevilDizzyDevilHatchling3 postsJoined May 2005More infoMay 17, 2005 00:22|#1My G3 was working fine all day up until canon error message u052 tonight. Went to turn it on and it kept shutting down and occasionally giving me the "e24" error. 1. Could still take pic's with it.2. No display at all. 3. Wouldn't stay on in the "view mode".4. Would https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/8693226 shut down if display was rotated. After scouring the net for info on the error (and soon after realizing these are service only errors), I found a post (not sure which forum) saying the plugs to the LCD screen may have come unplugged. Having no hope of getting my 2.5 yr old camera fixed for free, I dove in and found just that. One of the 2 harness plugs had been pulled from the LCD. After un-twisting the http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=74073 2 bundles I plugged them both back in and "PRESTO" good as old. Still a little bit suspicious of how badly the wire bundles were twisted. Since technically the rotation of the LCD screen is never a full rotation around. I assume that because the insulation on the wire is rubber, constant twisting of the screen over time can cause the wires to stick together and begin to tug on the connections (the 1 that was intact was on its way out also). Longer story shorter if u are having this problem as stated above and are past your warranty give this a shot. Was pretty straight forward. Just remove the 2 screws on either end of the display (have to rotate the screen to get the 2 closest to the camera), check to see if it is indeed unplugged. If this helps out even one person I will feel even more satisfied than I do now. Sorry if this has been posted b4. I suspect that the twisting LCD presents the user with such problems down the road. But, how can anyone live without it! by fender62, Aug 14, 2007. Aug 14, 2007 #1 fender62 Member when i opened the shutter on my a300 a buzzing sound started and e24 was displayed on the lcd, its out http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk/forums/threads/a300-error-e24-code-help.47335/ of warranty and to expensive to get repaired, is there anything i can try to http://www.fixya.com/search/p629065-canon_powershot_sx100_digital_camera/error_e24 mend it myself. Aug 14, 2007 #2 Lounge Lizard Well-Known Member What happens if you close the cover, take the battery out, leave for 5 minutes, put battery back in and try again? It's not practical to repair these. They aren't designed for repair and taking it apart means that you'll probably not get it back together again. error message Time to buy a new camera I think. Aug 14, 2007 #3 fender62 Member tried that same thing happens, what could be the cause of it what if i tokk out the tiny lcd battery? Aug 14, 2007 #4 Fen L e24 is a standard code across the Canon range of cameras. It means that there is a power failure. within the camera. It might be that the motherboard canon error message has failed. In which case you can either send it to Canon to get fixed (probably expensive) or go out and buy a new camera. Aug 14, 2007 #5 Lounge Lizard Well-Known Member tried that same thing happens, what could be the cause of it what if i tokk out the tiny lcd battery?Click to expand... I'm not sure what you mean by the tiny LCD battery. I doubt that that has got anything to do with the problem. Should the lens power out on opening the cover? Does it? It sounds like something is jamming and the error message is telling you that something is jammed. If the lens does move out a fraction then a dead insect or something sticky is all it needs to gum it up. Inspect it closely and see what you find. I don;t have this model so can't suggest where to look specifically. Aug 14, 2007 #6 Bettina Well-Known Member Yes, take out the tiny one, too. It might be that this one's failed. Aug 14, 2007 #7 fender62 Member i just found out, my daughter says she dropped it slightly? err. i was told when the shutter was opened buzzing sound then lcd e24 then blank screen.
