Error Message Excel Cannot Paste The Data
can answer The best answers are voted up and rise to the top Why does Excel now give me already existing name range warning on Copy Sheet? up vote 3 down vote favorite I've been working on a Microsoft Excel 2007 spreadsheet for https://www.reddit.com/r/excel/comments/3l01gd/name_already_exists_error_when_copying_any/ several days. I'm working from a master template like sheet and copying it to a new sheet repeatedly. Up until today, this was happening with no issues. However, in the middle of today this suddenly changed and I do not know why. Now, whenever I try to copy a worksheet I get about ten dialogs, each one with a different name range object (shown below as 'XXXX') and I click yes for each one: A formula or sheet you want to move or copy contains the http://superuser.com/questions/474321/why-does-excel-now-give-me-already-existing-name-range-warning-on-copy-sheet name 'XXXX', which already exists on the destination worksheet. Do you want to use this version of the name? To use the name as defined in destination sheet, click Yes. To rename the range referred to in the formula or worksheet, click No, and enter a new name in the Name Conflict dialog box. The name range objects refer to cells in the sheet. For example, E6 is called name range PRE on multiple sheets (and has been all along) and some of the formulas refer to PRE instead of $E$6. One of the 'XXXX' above is this PRE. These name ranges should only be resolved within the sheet within which they appear. This was not an issue before despite the same name range existing on multiple sheets before. I want to keep my name ranges. What could have changed in my spreadsheet to cause this change in behavior? I've gone back to prior sheets created this way and now they give the message too when copied. I tried a different computer and a different user and the same behavior is seen everywhere. I can only conclude something in the spreadsheet has changed. What could this be and how can I get back the old behavior whereby I can copy sheets with name ranges and not get any warnings? Looking in the Name Manager I see that the name ranges being complained about show twice, once as scope Template and again as scope Workbook. If I delete the scope Template ones the warning goes away on cop

If you are using an earlier version (Excel 2003 or earlier), this tip may not work for you. For a version of this tip written specifically for earlier versions of Excel, click here: Can't Copy error message in Data between Workbooks. Neil has Excel installed on several PCs in his office. On most of these he can copy data from one workbook to another workbook with no problems. On one of the PCs, although he can copy data from one worksheet to another worksheet in the same workbook, Neil cannot copy data to a different workbook. More than likely this has to do with how the two workbooks are opened on the problem machine. If you open the workbooks in two different instances of Excel, then copying and pasting between instances is not the same as when the workbooks are opened in the same instance. If you open the two workbooks in different instances of Excel, then when you go to paste information into the target workbook, you get the results of whatever formulas you are copying instead of the original formulas. (This is just one example; there are other pasting differences as well.) The solution is to make sure that the workbooks are opened in the same instance of Excel. The easiest way to do this is to make sure that once the first workbook is open, you open the second workbook by using the Open dialog box within Excel. If you instead use the Windows Start menu or a desktop icon to open the second workbook, you are open

I get a Microsoft Excel error box that says: "A formula or sheet you want to move or copy contains the name 'Conflict', which already exists on the destination worksheet. Do you want to use this version of the name? - To use the name as defined in the destination sheet, click Yes. - To rename the range referred to in the formula or worksheet, click No, and enter a new name in the Name Conflict dialog box." The Error Box allows me to click either Yes or No. If I click Yes, I get the another (same) dialog box for the next name 'conflict1', then another, etc. I have to click yes many many times (for each of the mysterious phantom names that supposedly 'already exist' ) before finally getting the sheet copied. The weird thing is that I don't use this name in this worksheet, nor do i know where it came from or where it is located in the file. The Insert/Name/Define process does not report any of these phantom names; and the View/Report Manager also does not list any Reports with such names. This is an extremely annoying occurance and i suspect it is as a result of sheets that may have been copied or moved, a long time
