While doing some work for a charity this morning I installed SyncBack v3 Free, and did an ordinary manual complete backup of the user's Documents folder to an external NTFS-formatted hard disk. About 8.8 GB copied (lots of photographs). No problems. I should point out that the user did not have an account password, and the desktop comes straight up after a restart. I wanted to set up (via the SyncBack scheduler) a job to run every day, so I added a password to the user's account - but now neither a manual incremental run nor a scheduled run will work. Both terminate after about 7 seconds, and the log shows the 'Access denied' message seen in the subject for each of the folders which should be backed up. A reboot and sign-on using the new password did not improve matters. The user can access without any problem all the files in the folders which would get backed, so why cannot SyncBack back them up? It sounds as though the user-with-a-password is being treated as a different user from user-without-a-password, but why that should be the case only via SyncBack is a good question. You might need to reset (or remove / re-add) the user to the folders' Permissions. Just doing it for one folder should prove or disprove it If you want to try setting the password back to 'blank' you can circumvent the restriction on using blank passwords with Scheduled Tasks using RegEdit an
