Change the "A1" reference to your sales tax cell, i.e. "G24". Then copy the macro to the clipboard: Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) If ActiveSheet.Range("A1").Value < 0 Then MsgBox "Invalid Sale", vbOKOnly, "Error" End If End Sub Select the worksheet containing your sales tax cell and right click on the sheet tab. Select 'View Code'. Paste the macro into the worksheet module editing area. Close back to Excel. Whenever a change of value is entered into a worksheet cell, the macro will run and check the value of your sales tax cell. If less than 0, the messagebox will display.
