I have restarted my apache web server. I have even put these lines at the top of my script and it doesn't even php try catch catch simple parse errors. For example, I declare variables with a "$" and I don't close statements";". But all my scripts show a blank page on these errors, but i want to actually see the errors in my browser output. error_reporting(E_ALL); ini_set('display_errors', 1); What is left to do? php error-reporting share|improve this question edited Mar 9 at 7:16 Maninderpreet Singh 1,7111524 asked Jun 27 '09 at 19:09 Abs 13.2k68208356 3 I've yet to nail down exactly why this works sometimes and not others, but for anyone wanting to quickly toggle errors in a php script (or enable them via a $_REQUEST parameter) these two lines will work most of the time. –brandonscript Oct 28 '13 at 20:15 well you can see details of the error by enabling xdebug from php ini file. –jewelhuq Jan 13 at 10:14 add a comment| 13 Answers 13 active oldest votes up vote 1335 down vote accepted This always works for me: ini_set('display_errors', 1); ini_set('display_startup_errors', 1); error_reporting(E_ALL); However, this doesn't make PHP to show parse errors - the only way to show thos

Following is the code snippet from my processlogin.php file if(!$_POST["username"] || !$_POST["password"]) { $msg = "You left one or more of the required http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19722180/how-to-show-error-messages-in-html-page-in-php fields."; echo $msg; //header("Location:http://localhost/login.php"); } This code checks whether all the mandatory fields are filled on not. If not, it shows the error message. Till now everything is fine. My problem is that, error message is shown in plain white page. I want to show it above the login form in login.php file. How should I change my code to get my functionality. php html share|improve this question asked Nov 1 '13 at 6:58 user1556433 1 Use javascript or jquery instead of using php for validations –Shoaib Chikate Nov 1 '13 at 7:00 1 I would agree to use something like jQuery AJAX and get a JSON return that you can pass the error message in. It takes a little getting used to at first but can save you a bunch of headaches around this. Another option if you dont want to use javascript is to pass the error message in a session variable and do an isset($_SESSION['my_var']) ? $_SESSION['my_var'] : ""; on it –Cameeob2003 Nov 1 '13 at 7:07 add a comment| 8 Answers 8 active oldest votes up vote 7 down vote accepted I would prefer Jquery Validation oLearn Bootstrap Learn Graphics Learn Icons Learn How To JavaScript Learn JavaScript Learn jQuery Learn jQueryMobile Learn AppML Learn AngularJS Learn JSON Learn AJAX Server Side Learn SQL http://www.w3schools.com/php/php_error.asp Learn PHP Learn ASP Web Building Web Templates Web Statistics Web Certificates XML Learn XML Learn XSLT Learn XPath Learn XQuery × HTML HTML Tag Reference HTML Event Reference HTML Color Reference HTML Attribute Reference HTML Canvas Reference HTML SVG Reference Google Maps Reference CSS CSS Reference CSS Selector Reference W3.CSS Reference Bootstrap Reference Icon Reference JavaScript JavaScript Reference HTML DOM Reference error message jQuery Reference jQuery Mobile Reference AngularJS Reference XML XML Reference XML Http Reference XSLT Reference XML Schema Reference Charsets HTML Character Sets HTML ASCII HTML ANSI HTML Windows-1252 HTML ISO-8859-1 HTML Symbols HTML UTF-8 Server Side PHP Reference SQL Reference ASP Reference × HTML/CSS HTML Examples CSS Examples W3.CSS Examples Bootstrap Examples JavaScript JavaScript Examples HTML DOM Examples jQuery Examples jQuery Mobile error message in Examples AngularJS Examples AJAX Examples XML XML Examples XSL Examples XSLT Examples XPath Examples XML Schema Examples SVG Examples Server Side PHP Examples ASP Examples Quizzes HTML Quiz CSS Quiz JavaScript Quiz Bootstrap Quiz jQuery Quiz PHP Quiz SQL Quiz XML Quiz × PHP Tutorial PHP HOME PHP Intro PHP Install PHP Syntax PHP Variables PHP Echo / Print PHP Data Types PHP Strings PHP Constants PHP Operators PHP If...Else...Elseif PHP Switch PHP While Loops PHP For Loops PHP Functions PHP Arrays PHP Sorting Arrays PHP Superglobals PHP Forms PHP Form Handling PHP Form Validation PHP Form Required PHP Form URL/E-mail PHP Form Complete PHP Advanced PHP Arrays Multi PHP Date and Time PHP Include PHP File Handling PHP File Open/Read PHP File Create/Write PHP File Upload PHP Cookies PHP Sessions PHP Filters PHP Filters Advanced PHP Error Handling PHP Exception MySQL Database MySQL Database MySQL Connect MySQL Create DB MySQL Create Table MySQL Insert Data MySQL Get Last ID MySQL Insert Multiple MySQL Prepared MySQL Select Data MySQL Delete Data MySQL Update Data MySQL Limit Data PHP - XML PHP XML Parsers PHP S
