messages in HTML page in PHP? up vote 4 down vote favorite 1 I have following login form (login.php) in which I am asking for username and password.
Following is the code snippet from my processlogin.php file if(!$_POST["username"] || !$_POST["password"]) { $msg = "You left one or more of the required fields."; echoError Message In Php Form Validation

Yes, I'll admit this does seem like a pretty basic concept and I've tried and tried to wrap my head around it, looked up all manner of posts and articles on the http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18343822/display-php-form-validation-results-on-same-page topic, etc., but all to no avail. Perhaps you can point me in the right direction? I have a basic contact form (contact.html) that I run with an external PHP script (contact.php). Here's the HTML form code:
