I've tried flash player error message multiple commerical DVDs, and I get the same message every time. There was a post about a similar issue with a Sony player in this forum, and the advice was to clean the laser lens, so I opened up https://www.reference.com/technology/would-dvd-player-say-disc-error-69ebefd989e17a7f my player and cleaned the lens. I tried a disc after that, and it would not spin at all in the player. I tried another one, and it did the same thing. When I went back to the original disc, though, it suddenly started spinning and playing. I then ejected that disc and tried it once more, and it didn't work. Since then, the player has played a disc one other random time, but I can discern no http://club.myce.com/f181/dvd-player-cannot-play-disc-206853/ pattern or reason that it would work one time and not another. Before the player gives the error message, the disc will not spin at all, and I can hear the laser moving around (like an etching sound). When it does play a disc, though, the player spins the disc immediately upon insertion. I've read that some people have got this error message from Sony players and had to replace their players, but because mine works every so often, I wonder if it's salvageable. Could there be some problem with the spinning mechanism that would cause it to work only sporadically? Also, I'm not sure because I was asleep at the time, but there's a chance that the error message could have appeared after a brief power outage at my house. (I had to reset the clock on my microwave when I woke up, and my computer had mysteriously restarted.) Could a power outage have affected the DVD player if it was on and had a DVD inside? DVD drives and movies in DVD format include region codes based on the country where the drive or movie https://customer.real.com/hc/en-us/articles/204041263-Region-errors-when-playing-DVDs- was sold. Region codes prevent playback of DVDs in other geographical regions. If you http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/fix-common-dvd-bluray-drive-errors/ receive a region error while playing a DVD, this means that the region code of the DVD does not match the region code of the DVD drive. In general, DVDs will play only on DVD drives that use the same region country codes. For example, if you live in the United States or Canada, you are in Region 1. error message You can play Region 1 DVDs only on a DVD drive that is set for Region 1. If you try to play Region 2 titles on a Region 1 DVD drive, you will receive an error message. To avoid this error message, make sure that your DVD player and the DVD you are watching are both coded for the same region. Check the DVD case for more information. You can usually find the region player error message code number printed over a small globe icon on the back of the case. If your DVD drive has an incorrect region code for your area, you may be able to change the region setting of your DVD drive to match your DVD. However, not all drives provide this option. With most DVD drives, you can change region settings only a limited number of times before the region setting becomes locked permanently.
