The printer is about 4 years old and not heavily used, mainly printing canvas as a part time business. The Printer was printing very poorly, missing lots of colours in the nozzle check. I've taken the print head off and cleaned it perfectly with all nozzels working. I put it back in the printer and still the same, nothing prints on the page. I've bleed ink right through to the dampers and ink is flowing. epson printer error message 0xf1 Put ink direct in the print head and it prints a bit......I have the 0040 error as well btw. I cant find a reset procedure for the 9880 anywhere, plenty saying they are for the 9880 but they dont work. I'm thinking the capping station and motor are the reason it doesnt print but hate the thoughts of replacing this and then need a printhead.....i dont have that type of money to spend. Would the 0040 error prevent the printer printing and is this what primes the printhead now there is no ink in it and thats why it wont print? Does anyone have a guide to just changing the capping station or resetting the 0040 error for a 9880 please. Btw, I dont have the money to pay an epson engineer and am very comfortable taking this thing apart if I understand what i'm doing........ Thanks in advance if any of you guys can help. Here's a link that tells how to reset the error, this may be what you've tried all ready. Epson 9600 error 0040 Maintenance Required Started by NeilT , Jun 28 2005 http://www.fixya.com/support/t4685842-maintenance_request_0040 08:44 AM Please log in to reply 14 replies to this topic #1 NeilT NeilT Administrator Administrators 3,636 posts LocationManchester (UK) Posted 28 June 2005 - 08:44 AM If you have a Epson error message large format printer like the 7600 or 9600 a word of warning. Our Epson 9600 started to flash up a warning message with the error number 0040 with maintenance required. So we spent some 48 hours trying to get through to Epson (UK) support, what a fooking nightmare that was.. and we are still waiting for replies from there e-mail support!! Any way, it seems epson error message that we have to get the "Waste Ink Pads" replaced ??? at a cost of... and get this.... £456.15 This has pissed me of a great deal, as when we did the research into purchasing a large format printer, one thing that was attractive, was how they did not need much maintenance etc. The only "parts" we were advised would need replacing would be things like the cutter blades, waste tank etc... But now one I have ever spoken to has ever mentioned that a regular on going bill would be the "waste ink pads" So be warned, you to, at some stage, if you are running a large format printer are also going to get this bill, right out of the blue!! Seems a little like a nice little earner for Epson to me, and I feel outraged that this has never been mentioned on any printed material etc, well not that I have seen.. Con and Scam !!!! I also assume that this may happen to other large format printers, be HP or another <> Back to top Report #2 Nick Nick Big Member Members 272 posts Posted 28 June 2005 - 08:5
