If DataErr = 2237 Then strMsg = "Select an item from the list, or press Esc to cancel" Response = acDataErrContinue ctl.Undo MsgBox strMsg End If That code goes in the form's error handler for the form with the combo box and it seems to prevent that other err no from appearing. Another alternative is tomake a union query with a null value for the 1st entry on the drop down's list (the union query goes in the row source)- it isthen easy for the user to use a blank as a valid value from the drop down. Solved Error code 2237 Posted on 2004-01-16 MS Access 1 Verified Solution 7 Comments 1,129 Views Last Modified: 2012-08-13 I am trying to verify the description of access error code 2237. When I generate the error and look up err.description, it is "2237 - Application-defined or object-defined error". It comes up when one has a Form_error event procedure (code to follow:), one is using a combobox where entries are limited to the list, and the entry is not a member of that list. My error handler does indicate that this is being generated by the Form_error module. The coding of that module is: Select Case Err.Number Case 3058 msgbox c_noccp Me.Ccp.SetFocus Case 3022 msgbox c_duplccp Me.Ccp.SetFocus Case Else Call subform_errhandler(criticality) End Select End Sub I just need to confirm that 2237 is the error occuring when an entered item is not a member of the list. I have not been able to find a listing of Microsoft Access error numbers. sjl 0 Question by:sjlevine34 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 17 Best Solution bywalterecook This code will show you how to generate the error codes. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q268721 And error 2237 is the not in list error Walt Go to Solution 7 Comments LVL 34 Overall: Level 34 MS Access 32 Message Expert Comment by:flavo2004-01-16 Check your refrences.. Ie if you are using ADO or DAO are they refrenced, this is the error you get by not having the library refrenced.
