Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop Just started getting this error message: Your Mac OS Network Preferences are not configured to allow automatic connections. You can manually dial up first, or you can change this setting: in your modem Preferences, click PPP Options, and then select the "Connect automatically" check box. What's going on? Everything was just fine yesterday - I am connected to the internet via airport / wireless router - not a modem in sight! Any advice greatly appreciated Thanks keithabennett, Apr 16, 2010 #1 Advertisements Diane Ross Guest On 4/16/10 1:16 PM, wrote: > Your Mac OS Network Preferences http://www.fixoutlookpsterror.com/how-to-fix-outlook-error-code-17896/ are not configured to allow automatic > connections. Sounds like a pref for network. Try running Repair Permissions but you might have delete a pref file in your User's Library/Preferences. Not sure which one to delete. Testing in a new User will quickly tell you if http://www.office-forums.com/threads/error-17896.2123931/ the problem is system wide or if it’s your User’s folder that contains the problem. Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Test a connection in a new Entourage user. Its intermittent and it happens with all three computers two PCs and a Mac. The PCs both have a version of Outlook; the Mac has Entourage. The PCs get a Socket Error 10061 and the Mac gets Error 3260 or 17896. Essentially, they say Unable to connect. All other internet functions are OK. Yesterday I sent messages at 6:40. Couldnt send at 8:00. Then over a 90 minute period, it went in and out again, then was OK the rest of the day. When it happens, I can go to my provider's website and send from there. Its been going on for at least three months. It happens once or twice a week. We can still receive mail when this is happening...just cant send. We replaced our old wireless router with a new one and I can't remember if this started before or after the replacement. I tried to use the router company forum (Netgear Genie) but I couldn't even understand the categories to get started. So I'm coming to my old reliable city-data folks. Help!!
