CrystalEnterprise.Smtp: (501) Hi folks, I am trying to schedule a report to go to a number of email addresses in XIr2. When I run it through the scheduler I get the 'address error. CrystalEnterprise.Smtp: (501)' error message. This lead me to believe that the addresses were wrong but when I checked in my own mail system they validate correctly. When I try and schedule the report and send it just to one or two addresses it works fine. Found reference to this on the web and its stated you cannot have more than one address in the .CC field. I have none. Can anyone help please. This has us completely stumped. I have been having the same issue and found out that if you are using a Distribution List from OutLook it needs to be a Global list. Local Distribution lists will not work. You also must right click on the distribution list and get the exact email address to type in not the descriptive name – Example my list was called Business Objects Develops. The actual email address was DList000@xxxx.com. This seemed to work._________________Thanks, Lori W Back to top weephilSenior MemberJoined: 19 Apr 2005Posts: 51Location: Aberdeen Posted: Wed Jun 21, 2006 8:44 amPost subject: Re: address error. CrystalEnterprise.Smtp: (501) Hi Lori, Thanks for your reply. No I've not fully got this working yet. Have got round it using global distribution lists like you say but have the same problem as yourself using local lists where you end up having to type in the actual address or addresses. I've logged a call with BO and someone is looking into it for me....may be an issue with the amount of characters you can put into the to field or something like that. I did find reference to the error message but it origanlly came from crystal and was caused by putting more than one address in the .CC field. Not applicable in my case. Will update this if I get any more info. Thanks Phil Ba

CrystalEnterprise.Smtp: (501).It is a valid reprot and runs OK when not doing SMTP e-mails.When I turn on the notification area and have an e-mail sent when an error is encountered, it sends an e-mail message to a Lotus Notes e-mail server.Anyone have have a clue what the problem is? Thanks ahead of time for your efforts. RE: CrystalEnterprise.Smtp Error rhinok (TechnicalUser) 24 Sep 04 11:57 In general, 501 is an SMTP error. The description for the error is "Syntax error in parameters or arguments".For Lotus Notes, specifically, there is a kb article describing this issue:http://support.businessobjects.com/library/kbase/a...Basically, CE only accepts valid SMTP email addresses (john.doe@xyz.com, for example).Lotus Notes or Domino Group names aren't accepted. ~Kurt RE: CrystalEnterprise.Smtp Error benaround (Programmer) (OP) 24 Sep 04 14:28 Thanks but I am using an e-mail address of john.d
