Windows/system32/spoolsv.exe Windows Vista IT Pro > Windows Vista Applications Question 0 Sign in to vote I noticed my computer taking extra long to boot starting a few days ago. I can't access the internet until the second message comes up after the error message. This message says 'spooler subsystem app stopped working and was closed'. I have Norton 360 protection and my operating system is Vista basic. I've done an antivirus scan with no real problems detected. The only time this message appears is when I am booting my computer. I then disabled the 'Interactive Services Detection' service, restarted, and tried to install the printer one more time. The install ended up freezing https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/bee7c9a2-d3e9-4ebd-94d8-71a04cdd3659/error-message-runtime-error-windowssystem32spoolsvexe?forum=itprovistaapps around the same time I usually receive the error message. I had to leave so I left it alone for a couple of hours and it was still frozen and unresponsive when I got back. I had to close it out using 'task manager'. I haven't contacted HP about the problem for a couple of reasons. One, I saw others say that when they contacted them they were told (whether http://computerhelpforums.com/threads/microsoft-visual-c-runtime-library-error.33387/page-2 true or not) it was a problem on Microsoft's end and that they couldn't help. Two I feel like if I explained what happened they would say something like "Well the printer was working fine until you got malware and did a system restore. Clearly its something you did wrong and its unrelated to our software". But I guess I probably should contact them just to see if they can offer any assistance. Also, I read the info in this link you posted: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/patricka/ar...eshooting-interactive-services-detection.aspx I had never noticed the drop down box that said 'show program details'. I clicked it on this time when I received the error message and it said C:Windows\System32\spoolsv.exe was the culprit. I then created a custom view in the 'event viewer' like the article said. It gave me a list of every time the error has occured. The first occurrence was 12-19-2012 if that helps you in any way. I also looked at the details for every time the error has occured. They are all the same and they all say: "Device or Application: C:\Windows\System32\spoolsv.exe. Message title: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library". Does this mean that 'spoolsv.exe' is whats causing the problem? As far as digging deeper with other programs, I'm a
