So if I have to change one message then I have to change it everywhere where this particular type of message is coded. So what is the best way to store all messages in on place and use them across the application. Possible solutions: Store all messages

in database. (We have to move these messages to other database type. For example if we move from MySQL to SQL Server.) Store all messages in separate php class using array and get these messages using class methods (Problem: We can not use this class in other programming languages.) Store message in special format which acceptable for all languages for example ini type of files. EDIT: (After looking Ozair's Answer) Sometimes we have to change message for particular record. For example: Product No. 10 is deleted. Product No. 15 is deleted. What will be best method to handle this case ? Which would contain a set of constant variables like PRODUCT_SAVED_OK = "The product {{id}} was saved successfully"; The I would have two static methods which take care of displaying the error/message public static function showMessage($message , $data = array("id" => "10"){ foreach($data as $key => $value){ $message = str_replace("{{" . $key . "}}", $value , $message); } echo $message; } public static function showError($e

for PHP 4 and above. It is a fairly small and simple class (only about 150 lines), I'm quite happy with it so far, of course you can download the class below and try it out for your self. http://deadlytechnology.com/scripts/php-error-class/ Why Bother? The problem with the error reporting that comes standard with PHP (PHP 4 at least) is that it reveals too much information to users. It will display the type/nature of the error, the line and the file the error occurred in etc. This sort of feedback is obviously intended to help you, the developer, to resolve the problem. However, this sort of information may also assist someone in exploiting your web sites' vulnerabilities. error message There are other reasons why you would want your own custom error handler, obviously, you can customise it to do what you want. In my case I wanted to be able to: Show the user only very restricted messages loosely based on the error type Show the developer (myself) more information depending on what info I need to solve the error Alert the developer when an error has occured on one of the sites (via email) Log php error message the errors for each site in seperate error logs. ...which is a brief list of what this error handler essentially does. How the error handler works It is fairly straight forward to set this class as the default error handler for your site. As many of my sites include a configuration file I simply use the set_error_handler() function inside this file and that is all I need. include("class.error_handler.php"); $handler = new error_handler(); set_error_handler(array(&$handler, "handler")); Here I include the error handler class, create a new instance of the error handler object and pass a reference to this object to the set_error_handler() function, as well as the name of the function inside the object that is used to handle the errors. Of course, you can pass more arguments to the class to create a more functional object... Using the class parameters Creating the error handling object as above is fine if all you want to do is display generic error messages to the user. This doesn't really help you debug the error though, so its best to take advantage of the extra functionality in the class to do so. IP Adress The first parameter is IP address. As with all the parameters, this is optional. It is necessary though, if you want to include some further information about the error on the page where the error occurs, in th
