This is the qmail-send program at server2.hysir.net. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

I sent a file from my phone via email. In the past I've had this work with smaller files. This file was 14mb and my smtp http://ask.metafilter.com/124714/Email-Delivery-Failure provider reported: "Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: error message 552 552 5.3.4 Error: message file too big (state 18)." What is the maximum file size I can send to my up.vimeo.com email addy? Thanks, Joe Sam Morrill Staff 6 years ago Hi Joe, sorry about that. In our experience, most email providers do not allow email uploads over 10mb. Joe Reger, Jr. Plus 6 years ago Hi Sam! Thanks... so the limit is 10Mb. I could be wrong but isn't the error indicating that Vimeo's up.vimeo.com server is the error message file one that's kicking the message out? Did Vimeo set the max to 10Mb because most email servers don't allow > 10Mb files? Or is there something I can do to send files over 10Mb? Joe Reger, Jr. Plus 6 years ago Bump. I've tested again a few times and it appears to me that it's the up.vimeo.com server that's blocking messages over 10Mb. Is that correct and is there any way to increase that limit? On my phone that gets me about 25 seconds of video... it'd be great to get a minute or two to show people where I am, etc. Thanks and let me know if I'm misreading the email header tea leaves! The file is 12,275k, but I'm getting a delivery failure saying the file size is too big. I'm using gmail and I know that the file size is not too big. What gives? How do I send it? I know the file is not too big. I get the following error: "Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 552 552 message size exceeds maximum size (state 18)." When I google this all I find is advice saying the file is too big, but it's not, as evidenced by other emails I've sent with larger attachments. I really need to send this email (actually. it's for my girlfriend, but whatever), how do I overcome this. I'm using gmail and it's going to about 17 recipients who among them are using many different email services. All deliveries fail. I need to send this out, what do I do? posted by ender6574 to Technology (19 answers total) 3 users marked this as a favorite It could be that at least one of the recipients is using a mail service in which that file IS too large.posted by nitsuj at 3:01 PM on June 13, 2009 It's not too big for Gmail, but most other email servers limit attachments to 10MB or even less. The error message you've received is pretty definite; at least one of your recipients cannot accept a message that large.posted by dreadpiratesully at 3:03 PM on June 13, 2009 Try a service like Rapidshare (I've never used them, but they do what you need) instead.posted by dreadpiratesully at 3:05 PM on June 13, 2009 Re-generate the PDF using the "smallest file possible" opti
