"An error has occurred."User Info: IonizerIonizer 5 years ago#1 Okay, so I http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4069/~/error-message%3A-unable-to-read-the-disc-%2F-disc-could-not-be-read was playing Skyward Sword and had just completed a puzzle and the Wii froze. It began making a weird sound (like a "clack" sound three times, then a normal disc read sound, then "clack, clack, clack" again). It repeated this a couple times, then a screen popped up that said (paraphrased): "An error has occurred. Push the Eject Button, remove the disc and power off the console. Refer to the Wii Operations Manual for http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/930752-nintendo-wii/61131587 further troubleshooting." Well, I did that (minus the manual part), then put the disc back in so I could keep playing. I got to the Wii Menu screen, and then the Wii made that "clack, clack, clack" sound a few times, then the same error message popped up. I tried it once or twice more and the same thing happened. I then tried to put Wii Sports in there, thinking it might be the SS disc, but it did the same thing.I've never dropped my Wii, or even bumped it or anything. It sits in the same place all the time. I got it within a month of the launch, so it's pretty old, and the warranty is probably expired. I've never had any problems with it before, it can (could?) even still read Dual Layered Discs. I haven't modded or hacked it in anyway, and I have the latest update. What could be wrong with it? Has anyone else had this problem? What am I supposed to do? I really want to finish Skyward Sword. And I really, really don't want to send it in to Nintendo during the holiday season when postal carriers might not be so careful with every one of the several additional packages they have to deal with...Thanks in advance for any help...http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s166/Io

Customer Discussions > Wii forum Question for Wii owners re error messages See latest post Sort: Oldest first | Newest first Showing 1-25 of 49 posts in this discussion Initial post: Dec 7, 2007 7:24:52 PM PST Wii Play Evrii Day says: We've owned our Wii for a year now and recently it started freezing up in the middle of playing Guitar Hero III (and a few other games, too). A black screen shows up with "System Error. Remove Disk, turn off system, refer to instruction manual, etc." - which we did. And then we took it to GameStop where they tested it for quite a while and finally determined it was probably the GHIII disk. So they replaced the game disk. All was fine til today....it is back doing it again. Anyone else out there experience this same problem while playing games and if so, what did you do or find out was the reason? Our warranty expires in a couple of weeks, so I can get a replacement, but my kids are afraid of losing all their Miis they created and even though we've copied everything to an SD card, can't figure out how to save the Mii's to transfer to a replacement system. Any help or advice would be really appreciated. Thanks! Reply to this post Permalink | Report abuse 1 of 1 people think this post adds to the discussion. Do you?
