Solved Sign up for Facebook leads to enable cookies error Posted on 2013-07-19 Facebook Web cookies required facebook login Browsers 1 Verified Solution 7 Comments 5,138 Views Last Modified: 2013-07-20 I fix PCs for s living . My customer reported a problem that attempting to sign up for Facebook (FB) under Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 and using IE 10 leads https://www.facebook.com/help/212354552120351 to the following error after you enter all the FB required sign up info and click Sign Up : "There was an error with your request. Please make sure your browser has cookies enabled and try again". I did a Google search and came up with someone else having exactly the same problem with FB in Yahoo answers. The best solution (which unfortunately means that only ONE PERSON chose it as the best answer was this: Go to Internet options>Privacy tab>Click the Default https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28190161/Sign-up-for-Facebook-leads-to-enable-cookies-error.html button; it should say medium; if not adjust the slider on the left to select Medium. Click Apply button and then OK button below. OK I took remote control of customer PC using LogMeIn Rescue Free Trial version and verified that the above problem and error message actually occurs. I then while having remote control of customer PC applied the solution at the end of the above paragraph ie select Medium level for cookies in IE 10. I then clicked Sign Up again and still got the error. I wiped out www.facebook.com still in the same IE 10 window (BTW 64 bit IE 10 was what he was using out of the Windoiws 7 Start menu) and manually re-entered www.facebook.com etc etc and still got the error. I then killed the 64 bit IE 10 windows, clicked the IE icon in the lower left of Win 7 bringin up I believe 32 bit IE 10 (ie in a NEW IE window) and did the Sign Up again and Still got the same error. HOWEVER I then went further down in my Google search results and found a thread about Linkedin login or authentication and you know what I found ??? A thread with about 30 (!!!!) Linkedin users who got EXACTLY the same error message !!!! A sumary of the responses in the Linkedin thread was someone would say such and such a solution worked for them and then four or 5 people would say that did not wo

On some devices, the web dialog authentication for Facebook is producing the error "Cookies are not enabled on your browser. Please adjust this in your security preferences". So far I've seen it only on the a small Amazon Kindle Fire and a Galaxy Tab 10.1. I have verified that cookies are enabled on both devices, and the devices are able to log into Facebook using their stock web browsers. Reinstalling my app on the devices has had no effect, and no errors or warnings are present in logcat when the web dialog is launched. I'm using the lastest Facebook SDK 3.0 for Android. Any insights on this issue would be appreciated. EDIT: I should also add that I'm not sure if there is actually a problem with cookies. If I enter a bogus password, the FB dialog will attempt a login and fail with a password error message. If I then attempt to login again, using a real password, the dialog will pass and everything will process smoothly. A FB session is created correctly as well. The Cookie error only appears if I try a "real" login first, as opposed to failing the first login and then logging in a second time. android facebook cookies facebook-login facebook-authentication share|improve this question edited Feb 5 '13 at 17:04 asked Feb 5 '13 at 16:54 TaylorP 7022926 The setting in the stock browser probably is not affecting your login dialog. You need the WebView that contains the login to accept cookies I would imagine. –FoamyGuy Feb 5 '13 at 16:59 The creation of the WebView isn't in my own code, but in the Facebook Android SDK. I did review some other material on correctly instantiating web views, cookie problems with them, etc and the Facebook SDK code doesn't seem to do anything that would cause the issue. –TaylorP Fe
