The installation fails and I get a message saying "Error setting registry value for PreLoadVBA: Access Denied". I searched my folders and could not find a PreLoadVBA file nor do I know where it would be written. I have full permissions for the ESRI folder and subfolders/files. I searched the Internet and found very little guidance. Does anyone know what might be the problem?OutcomesVisibility: GIS538 ViewsLast modified on Sep 18, 2010 12:04 PMTags:gisContent tagged with gisinstallContent tagged with install_configureContent tagged with _configure_desktopContent tagged with _desktopThis content has been marked as final. The current HEC GeoHMS (v4.2.93) is ArcGIS 9.3 and 9.3.1 dependent and requires a Spatial Analyst extension license. It also has MSXML Core version and .NET dependencies affected by the operating system you're using. The 4.2.93 release will not run on ArcGIS 10 which of course does not install VBA support by default and has a completely different extension registration method.Although ArcHydro Tools for ArcGIS 10 was recently released by the Water Resources collaboration, the HEC folks will be some time yet in ArcGIS 10 releases of their Geo tools. We can try to help, but to start you will need to be more specific about your issues and installation environment.Like • Show 0 Likes0 Actions mbbrady Sep 21, 2010 6:09 PMHi, Thank you for your reply. I have researched this error, but I don't see any specific solution for this. I searched the registry for "ProofSetup", which brought up a couple hits, but I don't know which registry key needs to be changed and to what value. All of the other new updated apps installed without issue. Can someone let me know which registry key need to be edited to allow the installation to finish? Thanks,Kevin 790Views Tags: none (add) photoshopContent tagged with photoshop, registry keyContent tagged with registry key, error 160Content tagged with error 160 This content has been marked as final. all important aspects of the article. Please discuss this issue on the article's talk page. (March 2012) The Windows Registry is a hierarchical database that stores low-level settings for the Microsoft Windows operating system and for applications that opt to use the Registry. The kernel, device drivers, services, Security Accounts Manager (SAM), and user interface can all use the Registry. The Registry also allows access to counters for profiling system performance. In simple terms, The Registry or Windows Registry contains information, settings, options, and other values for programs and hardware installed on all versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems. For example, when a program is installed, a new subkey containing settings like a program's location, its version, and how to start the program, are all added to the Windows Registry. When introduced with Windows 3.1, the Windows Registry primarily stored configuration information for COM-based components. Windows 95 and Windows NT extended its use to rationalise and centralise the information in the profusion of INI files, which held the configurations for individual programs, and were stored at various locations. [1][2] It is not a requirement for Windows applications to use the Windows Registry. For example, .NET Framework applications use XML files for configuration, while portable applications usually keep their configuration files with their executable.
