I use the software to make DVDs of the classes I teach. I shoot the video with a digital camcorder, capture it to raw, uncompressed DV (avi), import the files into Encore. I put the videos one after another in the timeline and create simple menus pointing to the chapter points Encore automatically creates when you drop the video clip on the timeline. I have used this technique for many DVDs without problems. Today, for some reason, when I go to build the DVD, I get "Error seeting up transcoder" immediately when the build starts. I transcoded the video using Encore's built in transcode feature, on automatic. I have tried reverting all the videos (there are about 35 separate video files) to the original and re-transcoding them. Same error. The audio I am using is the audio from the avi files. One of the clips was not recorded well by the camera and has artifacts and audio garbed. I edited that clip in Encore to remove the bad part, but still get this same error. How can I know which asset is causing the problem? 2732Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Show 22 replies 1. Re: Suddenly getting error
this problem??Info:WinXP Pro SP2Avi's encoded with power director 4.0 using compressor xvid mpeg-4 codecThanksError Setting Up Transcoder%26gt;xvid mpeg-4 codec I think I remember reading a question in another message, and the answer that Encore is not compatible with the mpeg4 codec, since that codec is not compatible with the DVD specificationError Setting Up TranscoderThanks John. What's the recommended codec for encore???DV AVI if you are going to let Encore do the coding, MPEG-2 if you are going to code from your video editorLots of tutorial HOW TO articles at http://www.videohelp.com/Thanks Again John, I will try that and post the results...- RubenWhen will XviD be supported in https://forums.adobe.com/thread/402280 Encore 2.0. It currently is in Premiere 2.0Xvid willi neverbe supported directly in Encore, as it is not a DVD legal format. It would have to be transcoded on import, and this is better done in an NLE such as Premiere - Encore is an authoring application and should ideally remain that way.Plus, if you deal with this in Premiere, as designed, then you can export out as either AVI or MPEG-2 ready for import into http://transcoding-hangs.blogspot.com/2010/04/error-setting-up-transcoder.html Encore.Plus, if you think about it, when you transcode to XviD from Premiere, the video will have to be transcoded again into mpeg2 inside of Encore for use on a DVD. The quality loss will be significant due to multiple compressions/decompressions of the video material. Better to use a minimally lossy codec like DV avi or a lossless codec like QT animation out of Premiere for transcoding in Encore. If you are sure of your encoding parameters, you can go right to mpeg2 from Premiere Pro and save the transcoding time in Encore.-Jeff%26gt;If you are sure of your encoding parameters, you can go right to mpeg2 from Premiere Pro and save the transcoding time in Encore. But i onlyif you have done your sums first!!!Talking of which, has Encore 2.0 been fitted with a bit budgeter? I mean, does it tell you the transcode settings it used to transcode an asset using the ''Automatic'' setting?I encoded the avi to DV-AVI using power director, but the files resulted in 8GB each! that's a lot of space. Anyway id did worked on encore and made a 4.7GB, but it took too much time. Is there a DV-Codec that will encode a xvid to DV-AVI with less space requirement???The DV AVI specification results in about 13 Gig per hour of videoMany (most?) people doing video editing

After using Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 to error setting up transcode my video to MPEG2-DVD format & setting up all the interactive menus in Adobe Encore 1.5 & checking the project to make sure there are no errors, I pop a 4.7GB DVD-R into my dvd writer & press the "Build" button. The dialog box shows that the video is being transcoded, but after about 15 minutes of transcoding, the error message shown in the weblink below come up: http://www.photoworks.com/share/shar..._alb_pml&cb=PW So I can't transcode the video. This is the first time I've encountered this error dialog & I tried uninstalling Encore 1.5 & re-installing it again, but the error message still appears when I try to transcode a second time. The name of the MPEG2 file that I'm trying to transcode & burn to DVD is called "Deric&JasmineTestMPEG2Disc2.m2v" as shown in the below weblink : http://www.photoworks.com/share/shar..._alb_pml&cb=PW Please help me as I really need to transcode & burn it to DVD for my client. Much thanks in advance. Andrew Last edited by andybiz_2005; 01-02-2007 at 10:35 AM. #2 khmuse View Profile View Forum Posts Private
