Error Unable To Access Jarfile Linux
voted up and rise to the top Unable to access jarfile up vote 1 down vote favorite I'm trying to run a .jar file on the start up of my Linux machine (Ubuntu 12.04 server) My script works as long as I run it inside the directory which it is in. If I try to run it outside the directory I get the error "Cannot access jarfile error unable to access jarfile minecraft_server jar settasks.jar". I suppose my other script is having the same issue. Is this possibly a script error or a permissions error? I'm completely lost and I have not found anything as of yet to resolve the issue. Any help will be welcomed. java share|improve this question edited Apr 8 at 3:19 Adam 5202622 asked Dec 15 '13 at 21:31 user2640104 8113 Little unclear here. Is settasks.jar another file which you didn't move or is it the one you did move? –Julian Stirling Dec 15 '13 at 21:44 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 5 down vote accepted Right click on the file and select Copy. Now, say you are executing the file using this in the directory with the file in: java -jar ./settask.jar Type the beginning of the command (java -jar), and then paste -Ctrl +Shift+V - you should end up with something like this, where is specifies the full path to the file: java -jar file:///home/wilf/settask/settask.jar Remove the file:// and press ↵: java -jar /home/wilf/settask/settask.jar If it works, then the same command should work in your script. I hope this answer is OK, I think you are asking about bash scripts. N.B

The process works without problems on the Windows development machine and on a Ubuntu virtual machine that we've got installed. The command is as follows: /usr/java/jdk1.6.0_18/bin/java -Xmx256M -DiDesigner.javabin=java -jar "/aplicaciones/jboss/nfs/pmc_tdt/bin/lib/iDesigner.jar" --compiler --obfuscate --in "81.ida" --out "directory:OUTPUT" Which creates the http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5569591/unable-to-access-jarfile-in-linux-land error: Unable to access jarfile "/aplicaciones/jboss/nfs/pmc_tdt/bin/lib/iDesigner.jar" All paths are confirmed to be correct and the jar file path is enclosed by double quotes. After two beers and a Big Mac the Systems Department confirmed that the user (jbossadmin) running JBoss is also the owner of the file: [root@miv-multicanalidad-01 lib]# pwd /aplicaciones/jboss/nfs/pmc_tdt/bin/lib [root@miv-multicanalidad-01 lib]# ls -l iDesigner.jar -rw-r--r-- 1 jbossadmin jbossadmin 1329162 ene 22 2010 iDesigner.jar I suspect that it's a rights issue so we asked them to change the permissions to execute but alas, still no gratification. The only thing I can think of is that it's a path translation error or that we haven't applied the right rights to the right place! Edit: An excellent suggestion by Andrea Spadaccini, however it seems that we already have the traversal permissions through the path: drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 abr 6 2010 /aplicaciones/ drwxr-xr-x+ 16 jbossadmin jbossadmin 4096 mar 7 10:13 /aplicaciones/jboss/ drwxrwxr-x+ 5 jbossadmin jbossadmin 4096 ene 25 09:21 /aplicaciones/jboss/nfs/ drwxr-xr-x 4 jbossadmin jbossadmin 4096 abr 6 16:03 /aplicaciones/jboss/nfs/pmc_tdt drwxr-xr-x 4 jbossadmin jbossadmin 4096 sep 3 2010 /aplicaciones/jboss/nfs/pmc_tdt/bin/ drwxr-xr-x 3 jbossadmin jbossadmin 4096 abr 6 16:03 /aplicaciones/jboss/nfs/pmc_tdt/bin/lib/ Edit: With Eva we can confirm that executing the line via

[Ubuntu, Linux] up vote 0 down vote favorite I have been trying to solve this for a few days now but I just can't seem to grasp why this isn't working properly. I am error unable to trying to launch a jar file from ProcessBuilder but it just says that the jar file isn't found. If I run the exact same command from the terminal then it runs like a charm. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Note: The parameter s is the server file, I have already confirmed that the proper parameter is being passed down. Here is a shortened version of the method (It errors on pb.start): public static void startServer(String s){ File server = new File(DataManager.getWorkingDirectory() + "/Servers/" + s + "/"); if(server.exists()){ if(serverProcess == null){ try{ String OS = System.getProperty("os.name").toLowerCase(); boolean isLinux = (OS.indexOf("nix") >= 0 || OS.indexOf("nux") >= 0 || OS.indexOf("aix") > 0) ? true : false; //java -jar -XX:MaxPermSize=126M -Xmx1G -jar ...(PathToJar)/server.jar ProcessBuilder pb = new ProcessBuilder("java", "-jar", "-XX:MaxPermSize=" + permSize + "M", "-Xmx" + ramAmount + "G", "\"" + (!isLinux ? am trying to build a bukkit server. I recently installed Ubuntu Server 11.04 (Tomcat java installation) on the machine. Also I have installed java6 jdk, jre, bin along with openssh. edit: also openjdk is installed on the machine. I mounted my flash drive and successfully copied all the files and folders to a new drive at /home/(foldername). i tried the standard .sh given and i keep getting the error: No such file or directoryhome/(foldername) Unable to access jarfile craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar With means to me means the script is not writing the path correctly. So I tried to run the java initialization in the folder with the file in it. Still I get: Unable to access jarfile craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar This to me means that it still may or may not be seeing the right files. When I do a ls it shows the craftbukkit build in there. Please help. Aramillio Aramillio, 28, 2011 #1 Offline Yudaz Ehm... That means that even: - That your Craftbukkit.jar file isnt there, or in the same folder... - Or that the name of the Craftbukkit.jar file isnt: craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar - Or last opinion that the Run.bat file has wrong thing written... It should say: @Echo OFF SET BINDIR=%~dp0 CD /D "%BINDIR%" "%ProgramFiles%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xincgc -Xmx1G -jar craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar PAUSE Or running 32-bit on a 64-bit machine: @Echo OFF SET BINDIR=%~dp0 CD /D "%BINDIR%" "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xincgc -Xmx1G -jar craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar PAUSE If you have changed the name of the Craftbukkit.jar file, to example Craftbukkit... Then it should say: @Echo OFF SET BINDIR=%~dp0 CD /D "%BINDIR%" "%ProgramFiles%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xincgc -Xmx1G -jar Craftbukkit.jar PAUSE Understood now?
