When I click on the EXE file, the error message "UNABLE TO BACKUP EXISTING FILE. NOT ENOUGH RIGHTS" appears, and the update fails. (2) Trying to create a new genealogical database with the program http://www.derkeiler.com/Newsgroups/microsoft.public.windowsxp.security_admin/2003-07/1413.html RootsMagic. I get error message "You do not have permission to save in this directory. See the administrator to obtain permission". An alternative is offered: "save the new file in the My Documents folder". When I say YES to the alternative choice, the program blows up and shuts down. I am logged in as ADMIN on my own home computer when the above occurs. I checked permissions, and I've got them all. Systems that came in with the original version of XP, even though they currently have all Windows patches on them will update the dats, even if the user does not have Admin authority.Systems which were delivered with XP SP1 on them will not update the dats, unless the user has Admin rights. I do not want all users to have Admin rights, but I do want to keep my virus files up to date!Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you solve it?Thanks in advance. So, giving them Admin rights to their local system is not an option. 0Votes Share Flag Collapse - by BlackDiamond · 13 years ago In reply to Updating McAfee Dat Files ... You could check the rights on the folder and bump them up. 0Votes Share Flag Collapse - by Black
