This is a clean installation from homebrew. I would be great if someone know about this problem. Thanks rhacker changed the title from weechat error why running to weechat error while starting in Mac Dec 14, 2014 WeeChat member flashcode commented Dec 14, 2014 It looks like you're running two WeeChat instances with the same home directory (~/.weechat by default). If that's the case, you must use the --dir option, see weechat --help. If you're running only one WeeChat, check that you have write access in your home and in ~/.weechat directory. flashcode added bug waiting info labels Dec 14, 2014 rhacker commented Dec 17, 2014 @flashcode thanks for pointing out. It's exactly the problem I ran into. rhacker closed this Dec 17, 2014 flashcode added invalid and removed waiting info labels Dec 18, 2014 georgeportillo commented Jan 8, 2016 How could I re-connect to my weechat instance? WeeChat member flashcode commented Jan 9, 2016 @georgeportillo: if you mean keep weechat running and disconnect, you can run WeeChat under screen or tmux, and detach from it, then reattach later. Discussion Mon Aug 27 13:06:13 2007, original submission:When running WeeChat with NFS mounted home, WeeChat always fails with this message : "WeeChat Error: unable to create/append to log file (weechat.log) If another WeeChat process is using this file, try to run WeeChat with another home using "--dir" command line option." As written in flock() manual, this function does not work with NFS filesystem. So WeeChat should check return code of flock() to see if there's a lock on weechat.log or other error, like flock impossible (in this case, we go on without locking file).
