Re: Unable to locate specified base class 'spark.components.WindowedApplication' jbach2 Jan 15, 2010 6:40 AM (in response to Flex harUI) Ok Thanks!I assume then what I need is NOT the release build of the flex4sdk, but one of the Nightly buildshttp://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+4Is this correct? If so, how 'stable' are these nightly builds? ie Is it possible to use a Nightly build for actual production work? Or are they there simply for developers to play with and provide feedback? That compiler error makes sense if you're in a Flex project.Jason San JoseQuality Engineer, Flash Builder Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions Go to original post Actions More Like This Retrieving data ... locate specified base class spark components WindowedApplication I have recently started to compile some SWF / AIR Apps using Adobe's free Flex4 SDK. During this ‘newbee' phase I have come across several pitfalls, so I'm starting a series of posts to catalogue these to help others ease the pain. When compiling your MXML files you will be publishing to either the web-based (SWF only) platform or a AIR Windowed App platform. This subtil difference may catch you out unawares… If you get caught out, you may get the following error from the compiler: Error: Unable to locate specified base class spark.components.WindowedApplication Other people have obviously crossed similar water in that they have compiled the code successfully before, but then it failing on another occasion. Well, there's nothing wrong with your Flex SDK / AIR installation it just your probably using: mxmlc when you should be using: amxmlc The first command ‘mxmlc' is to compile the MXML to SWF, whereas the second ‘amxmlc' is to compile the MXML to the AIR App platform. Hope this helps! 54.510893 -6.042726 Share this:TwitterFacebookRedditEmailLike this:Like Loading... airflexsdk
