Either the port number given http://www.forumtopics.com/busobj/viewtopic.php?p=739285 for Central Management Server at the time of login is incorrect or the port is already in use by another application. Make sure to give correct port number for CMS at the time of login. The CMS server default port is 6400. In the "System" field in the authentication box, type in "server:port" (without " "). For e.g., if it is default, you may either type myservername or myservername:6400 In order to change default port number at which the CMS server runs, do the following steps: * Stop the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) from Central Configuration Manager (CCM). * Right Click > Go to Properties > Startup tab. * Click on the Central Management server > Properties tab. * Change the port number to some other number which is not in use by any other application. Click OK. * Apply > OK. * Start the SIA. __________________________ Shane Graser www.datamanagementgroup.com “Transforming Data Into Information” Back to top LughForum EnthusiastJoined: 16 Jul 2009Posts: 1103Location: Herndon, VA Posted: Mon Jul 12, 2010 1:03 pmPost subject: Re: Unable to open a socket to talk to CMS Error Just as a wacky thought, you have called your network people, yes? SMTP gives me an error too. Thanks for your help. Ingmar Greil Posted: 10 May 2010 05:28 PM [ # 5 ] Joined: 2004-05-1529235 posts PHPMail usually uses Sendmail, too, via the built-in PHP layer. There is no advantage in using one over the other; if PHPMail works, I wouldn't worry about it. That said, if you want or must use Sendmail directly, it probably needs to be configured correctly. Your host would be able to help you there.
