Pay plugin on a Magento 1.4.1.0 site, I encountered the following Magento Connect Manager error. ERROR: unable to unpack /public_html/downloader/pearlib/download/Ebizmarts_SagePaySuite-3.0.9.tgz A fellow blogger found that this can be resolved by using an updated version of the tar.php file. /downloader/pearlib/php/Archive/Tar.php Make a copy of your current tar.php file and upload this newer version in its place. New Magento Tar file. The new file resolved the issue and allowed me to successfully install the update. As a work-around, you can specify that PEAR should request the uncompressed package file instead: pear install --nocompress phpdoc/phpDocumentor share|improve this answer answered May 25 '15 at 12:57 kguest 3,18732032 not working no. although tarball is uncompressed fine. Is there a way to install uncompressed package? –paulus May 26 '15 at 19:11 Yes. This is how to do it "by hand": You need to extract the package to a temporary directory, call it uncompressedpackagedir if you want.
