Doing a quick check on the Microsoft KB, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;888189 shows event viewer error possible rectification by modifying the RestrictGuestAccess values from 1 to 0, for Windows Server 2003. Although mine's an XP Pro, following those steps and subsequently rebooting, still does not resolve the situation.
