idmap rid. I was hit with this one: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8676 . Searching for server exit (failed to receive smb request) idmap rid issues with 3.6.x will reveal others as well. Someone indicated that rejoining the domain would

fix this issue. As it so happened, I had to rebuild one of the servers. After joining the rebuilt system to the domain, it has worked flawlessly ever since. failed to call wbcgetpwnam: wbc_err_domain_not_found So, it appears the problem with rid and some of the other idmap backends is somehow related to upgrading, as newly joined systems work as expected. This is similar to the problem discussed in KB2194664. However I can not install the hotfix for that as it just displays that https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2012-November/170243.html the Update is not applicable to your computer. The file version of the update is higher than the one installed on the server so it should install I would have thoiught. I have treid installing on a non SP 1 server and it runs through with no problems so I guess that this is a SP 1 specific issue. Is there version of the patch for SP1 anywhere? Is https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/3ebca7e2-565b-4230-a5d6-98f9d31ec45c/2008-r2-drops-connection-to-samba-share?forum=winserverfiles this a problem that should have been fixed in SP1? You may need to check if it is a DNS/NetBIOS resolution issue. Meanwhile, as you mentioned the hotfix KB2194664, please test if this one can be installed: http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Windows%207/WindowsServer%202008%20R2/sp1/Fix326314/7600/free/417514_intl_x64_zip.exeTechNet Subscriber Support in forum |If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tnmff@microsoft.com.
