on LinkedIn Yesterday i tried to enable custom animated boot logos on my iPhone 4 by running Redsn0w 0.9.6RC11 over my existing PwnageTool 4.3 jailbreak but unfortunately ended in some serious Cydia errors. Everytime i tried to reload my Cydia sources, i got Error: Cached Failure message. Similarly installing any Cydia package resulted in Error: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found. Finally

after 2 hours of troubleshooting, i found a solution and saved myself from restoring my iPhone again.Steps to Fix Cydia HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found & Cached Failure Error:There is a single and easy solution to both of these error messages. During the steps below, make sure NOT to delete any DIRECTORY otherwise your Cydia will fail to open. Also write down the names of the custom Cydia repos you have added before proceeding to the steps below. In this case i will be using iPhone Explorer to delete some files, however if you have iFile already installed, you can always use it.Connect your iDevice to your PC or Mac and open iPhone Explorer software. Navigate to the following location and delete all files within partial directory.Location: /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/Navigate one directory up and delete all files in lists directory. Make sure not to delete the partial folder otherwise your Cydia will crash.Location: /var/lib/apt/lists/Now navigate to the following location and delete metadata.plist file from cydia directory.Location: /var/lib/cydia/Navigate to the following location and delete all files within sources.list.d directory.Location: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/Thats it!
you are getting a ‘Failed to Fetch […]' error, blame it on a repo that no longer exists but is listed in Sources. With iOS 7 jailbreak done, you might failed to fetch cydia be facing this error all too often because of a non-existent Ultrasn0w package. Removing it

In this short tutorial, you'll remove cydia host unreachable the package that's causing the error which says, "Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored or old ones used instead." As on writing this, since this is a new firmware and a new jailbreak - without a few totally compatible Cydia packages like Mobile Substrate - you might also encounter other errors during runtime/installation. One common error we have faced is while installing a new tweak, sometimes, it cancels the progress throwing some error. In most cases, we've been able to bypass this error by re-installing the tweak after a while or respringing the device before installing the tweak again. Again, I think this problem will continue for a short time till we have stable, compatible, tailor-made builds of Mobile Substrate and other libraries that make the tweaks work. Cydia repository fetch fails 0 Error: Failed to fetch [source url] HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found I haven't used cydia in sometime ... have the repo URLs changed? (I'm having the hardest time googling what they should be) For example, BigBoss fails. The address I'm using is: http://apt.thebigboss.org/repofiles/cydia Other ones fail too.
