Failed To Connect To Localhost Port 4444 Connection Refused
down vote favorite 3 I've been trying to create a new database connection on workbench. However, every time I test a connection there is an error message that says Failed to connect to mysql at 127.0.0.1:3306 with user root access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'(using password:YES) I don't know what's the cause of this error. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing my workbench 6.1 and mysql server 5.6 but the error is still unsolved. failed to connect to localhost port 8080 connection refused mysql database connection share|improve this question edited May 20 at 10:16 R O M A N I A 12.2k116575 asked Sep 11 '14 at 2:10 cpl 61113 What's tenlet? @ydoow –cpl Sep 11 '14 at 2:14 add a comment| 6 Answers 6 active oldest votes up vote 12 down vote First check if it's a workbench or connection problem. 1) In your windows run 'cmd' to open a terminal Try both 2a) mysql -u root -p -h 127.0.0.1 -P 3306 2b) mysql -u root -p -h localhost -P 3306 3) If the connection is good you will get a password prompt, see if you can connect with correct password. If your connection is denied, just grant the permission mysql >GRANT ALL ON [DatabaseName].* TO 'root'@'127.0.0.1' IDENTIFIED BY '[PASSWORD]'; If your connection is accepted here, it's like a workbench configuration problem. share|improve this answer edited Jul 23 '15 at 11:29 Saty 17.9k51733 answered Sep 11 '14 at 2:16 ydoow 1,357724 I don't have any database connection yet. The CogAugust 22nd, 2015, 01:46 PMIf it is only listening on 127.0.0.1 then it http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25777943/failed-to-connect-to-mysql-at-127-0-0-13306-with-user-root-access-denied-for-us will never be able to accept a connection from another machine. When any remote machine tries to connect to 127.0.0.1 it will be trying to connect to itself, not the sql server. I guess this is why MYSQL Workbench gives an error - it is trying to connect to its own loopback address, which isn't accepting connections on the MySQL port. You must change the listening address if you are going to accept remote connections. Commenting out bind-address = 127.0.0.1 woll (I https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-2291686.html think) make it default to listening on 0.0.0.0 which means it listens on every address the server has. bill-lancasterAugust 23rd, 2015, 07:34 AMThanks The Cog. I've tried 0.0.0.0, 127.0.0.1, removing the line altogether and using the ip address of the PC. All produce an error with MYSQL Workbench. I think I may have messed up priviliges as well. I set out to give access to a laptop in my wlan and managed to mess up the mysql server on my pc. My need now is to restore the pc (server) to working order although applications on the pc connect to the server OK The CogAugust 24th, 2015, 10:07 AMI can think of a couple of things to try to work out what's wrong: On the server, run the command netstat -lnt to verify which address(es) the server is really listening on. Look for port 3306. My server says the local address is :::3306, meaning any address. Verify that you are able to connect to the server, both locally and from the laptop. Use one of these two commands on both server and laptop. You should connect and receive a bit of text that includes the string "mysql_native_password", although you will then need to kill the connection locally - you can't continue to log in. If both server and laptop get this response then basic connectivity looks OK. If only the server gets the response then perhaps suspect firewall settings on the

What's going on? I created a MySQL 5.1 database on an Ubuntu server mysql.myhost.com. I can failed to connect access it locally. MySQL Workbench (PC) offers to make a connection via TCP over ssh. It runs on port 3306 on the remote server where command-line mysql works fine. I used the following session details: Connection Method: TCP/IP over SSH. SSH Hostname: mysql.myhost.com:3306 SSH username: my linux login SSH public key file: my local public key file MySQL hostname: 127.0.0.1 MySQL Server Port: 3306 Username: root I get an error message when I try to connect: "Failed to connect to MySQL at 127.0.0.1:3306 through SSH tunnel at mysql.myhost.com with user root" "Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (10061)" As another test - I set up a SSH tunnel with port 3306 using Putty and I can connect OK using MySQL Workbench through that tunnel which forwards connections to my local 3306 to the remote server as described above. But I can't get "TCP/IP over SSH" working in Workbench. Secondary question: when Workbench asks for "Path to SSH public key file" doesn't it really need my private key file? mysql mysql-workbench share|improve this question asked Jun 26 '11 at 14:02 Dizzley 246133 2 Good grief. bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=61368 shows that IS a PRIVATE key file that is needed in OpenSSH format.
