domain could not be created (!?). This was weird - I wasn't doing anything strange… failed to add entry for user smbpasswd centos so I tried it from the console, logged in through SSH: [root@webworks domains]# ../bin/vadddomain verens.com Please enter password for postmaster: enter password again:

Failure while attempting to remove_line() the locals file Error. Failed to add domain to assign file Error: Could not update file The solution is vaguely indicated there. All you need to do is this: [root@webworks domains]# touch /var/qmail/control/locals create unix user Then, remove the failed domain, ignoring the errors: [root@webworks domains]# ../bin/vdeldomain verens.com Warning: Could not access (/home/vpopmail/domains/verens.com) Warning: Failed while attempting to delete domain from auth backend Warning: Failed to delete directory tree: verens.com And recreate it: [root@webworks domains]# ../bin/vadddomain verens.com Please enter password for postmaster: enter password again: All is as it should be. Oh - also, I came across an errata in the o'reilly book on qmail. When I tried to submit it, though - how to add samba user I got an SQL error (tsk tsk). The error returned was this: Unable to execute INSERT INTO submission VALUES(0, ‘qmail', ‘128', ‘Top information box', ‘reader question or request for clarification', ‘The error indicated in the information box - that of a local user being able to send to an address, but an external user not being able to, can also be caused by an MX record pointing to a domain name which is a CNAME of another host. This is pointed out here: http://cr.yp.to/im/cname.html', ‘Kae Verens', ‘kae@verens.com') The error looks like it was caused by someone changing the database table, but not updating all pages that access that. This could easily have been avoided by changing the syntax used to enter the data to something like this: insert into submission set book='qmail', page='128', pagepart='Top information box', errortype='reader question or request for clarification', errordescription='The error indicated in the information box - that of a local user being able to send to an address, but an external user not being able to, can also be caused by an MX record pointing to a domain name which is a CNAME of another host. This is pointed out here: http://cr.yp.to/im/cname.html', name='Kae Verens', email='kae@verens.com' Here's the thing I tried to enter - page 128 of the oreilly qmail book: The error indicated in the information box - that of a local use

possible reasons you cannot add or assign a domain to your account through the Domain Manager. Let's go through the causes and see which one applies to your situation. The number one reason a domain cannot be added is that https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/81 it fails to verify ownership. Make sure you have followed one of the required https://www.drupal.org/node/901694 methods to confirm ownership. Have you changed the name servers (NS) or created an A record for the domain you are attempting to assign? If you have changed the NS or A Record, it is possible enough time has not been allowed for DNS propagation. Please give it at least thirty minutes. If you chose to create failed to the page to verify ownership and it's still not verifying, it's possible that our system is blocked from querying that page. It's also possible that the “text” you are supposed to enter is not correct. It is case sensitive. For example, 0e259158 is different from 0E259158. If you chose to send a verification code to the email address and it didn't come through, there is a high possibility that your failed to add email service provider is greylisting the email because they think it's spam. There are two ways to resolve this. Change the Admin and Registrant email in the whois or contact us to have a support agent resend the email. If you received an error message that informs you the domain is associated with another account you will need to remove it from the other account. (You will need to contact the account holder). If you recently purchased the domain, either from a new purchase or an auction, and you cannot get the domain removed from their account, you will need to contact support. You will also be asked to provide proof that you own the domain. It can take 3 days or longer to resolve due to legal protocols. If you have not yet changed the NS record, please change it to point to: Primary NameServer: ns1.BlueHost.com Secondary NameServer: ns2.BlueHost.com Allow up to 24-48 hours for DNS propagation. Those three files INSTALL.txt, INSTALL_QUICKSTART.txt and README.txt are the most Well-written guide for any modules I ever read. They are a little long, but I guess that's what we need.
