It comes as an OVF file. What is strange is that the package has 2 OVF files. When I try to run it in vmware workstation, the first OVF doesn't even register, the second ovf does. But when the virtual appliance boots up it gives the following error: Mount: https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/26770828/COnverting-OVF-to-vmx-error-with-ovf-tool-Not-working.html mounting /dev/mapper/root on /realroot failed: no such file or directory switch_root: bad newroot /realroot [ 4.565995] Kernel Panic - not syncing: attempted to kill init! VirtualBox and VMware use different virtual machine formats, but each supports the standard Open Virtualization Format. Convert your existing virtual machine to OVF or OVA and you’ll be able to import it into another virtual machine failed to open program. Unfortunately, this may not always work perfectly, as VirtualBox and VMware both seem to use slightly different OVA/OVF implementations that aren’t entirely compatible. If this doesn't work, you may want to reinstall your virtual machine’s guest operating system from scratch. VirtualBox to VMware Before migrating a virtual machine from VirtualBox to VMware, ensure it’s “powered off” in VirtualBox – not suspended. If it’s suspended, launch the virtual machine and shut it down. Click the File menu in VirtualBox and select Export Appliance. Select the virtual machine you want to export and provide a location for it. VirtualBox will create a nOpen Virtualization Format Archive (OVA file) that VMware can import. This may take some time, depending on the size of your virtual machine’s disk file. To import the OVA file in VMware, click the Open a Virtual Machine option and browse to your OVA file. VirtualBox and VMware aren’t perfectly compatible, so you’ll probably receive a warning message saying the the file “did not pass OVF specification performance” –

I know that in ESX, and I believe even VMware Workstation, you can export a VM to a OVF file and redeploy on VirtualBox, VMware Workstaion/Fusion, and ESX. My question is, is there a way I can make a OVF file on Fusion for the VM I want to deploy or am I out of luck? vmware-fusion share|improve this question edited Oct 27 '15 at 14:27 Jeff Bridgman 3,73282967 asked Dec 11 '13 at 21:39 user181895 77118 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 12 down vote ./ovftool --acceptAllEulas /Users/admin/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/IDM.vmwarevm/IDM.vmx ~/Users/admin/Documents/IDM.ova share|improve this answer answered Jan 2 '14 at 14:38 Rk1 1414 4 Some explanation? –Mike Szyndel Jan 2 '14 at 15:01 1 --acceptAllEulas eq Accepts all end user license agreement's, Then you provide path of the .vmx /.ova file to create.
