It can be downloaded from the Microsoft Download Center. If you do not have any version of Microsoft Excel installed, you must install that driver before you can use either .xls or .xlsx files. If you have Excel 2010 installed, you must still install the driver. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7554F536-8C28-4598-9B72-EF94E038C891&displaylang=en14 people found this helpf

[closed] up failed to vote 3 down vote favorite I just installed Windows 10, and I have ArcGIS 10.3. Now, when I use any script to create a new .mxd map document (and occasionally if I download an .mxd made on another computer), it shows up as a Microsoft word file, i.e. MAP.mxd.doc. I can't open it with ArcMap (even by searching for another program to use it, and selecting ArcMap as the program). Does anyone know how to deal with this problem? failed to connect arcgis-desktop arcgis-10.3 windows-10 share|improve this question edited Apr 8 at 12:03 PolyGeo♦ 39.2k1357144 asked Oct 3 '15 at 19:15 Laura Dodson 161 closed as off-topic by PolyGeo♦ Nov 4 '15 at 2:00 This question appears to be off-topic. The users who voted to close gave this specific reason:"Questions describing a problem that can't be reproduced and seemingly went away on its own (or went away when a typo was fixed) are off-topic as they are unlikely to help future readers." – PolyGeoIf this question can be reworded to fit the rules in the help center, please edit the question. ESRI doesn't support windows 10 yet and I've seen some weird ArcGIS behavior when I've upgraded machines to 10. What is the exact error you are getting? What do you mean by using a script to create a new arcmap? Have you tried renaiming the .mxd file to remove the .doc part of the file name? –Dowlers Oct 3 '15 at 21:15 According to this article, ArcGIS 10.3.1 supports Windows 10. Can you install 10.3.1? –GISGe Oct 5 '15 at 8:12 I'm assuming that this did/would go away by upgrading to 10.3.1, and so will close the question as non-reproducible. If it persists at that version then just edit your question to update it with that information which should trigger its re-opening, if not you can flag
