This is suggesting that you either have the wrong password for the administrator account on node1, or you've supplied the wrong user creditials in some fashion or another. Is it possible to reboot and still connect to the domain? up vote 0 down vote favorite I have tried to setup Samba File Server with AD authentication. The authentication via Active Directory is successful but if you reboot the http://serverfault.com/questions/589540/samba-server-authenticating-against-active-directory-is-it-possible-to-reboot-a server the linux Samba file server will NOT join the domain automatically like windows server do. You still have to manually join the domain by issue the below command line with user password: net join ads -U username -S DOMAIN.COM Is there a way to automate this? I know I can put a init scripts but the user password will change every 3 months and I don't want to change the scripts every 3 months. I am looking for something like a windows file server in which after reboot it will still be connected to the domain without any login credential requirements. I've been tangling with SAMBA and made some progress: when trying to "Add Printers" from failed to call the Windows machines, they can actually see it when doing a network search. However, Windows invariably asks for a driver ("The server for the printer does not have the correct printer driver installed..."), and then when I select one, it delivers the error message "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Make sure you have typed the name correctly..." I've done some research and I found that often this is due to the printer not being "named correctly": using enumprinters, it has \LOCALHOST instead of the appropriate name. The suggested fix is to rename the printer using setprintername (rpcclient). However, I cannot do this: I always get a WERR_ACCESS_DENIED error. Additional research on rectifying THAT issue suggests "granting" oneself the appropriate privileges (SePrintOperatorPrivileges, using net...user...rpc rights grant)...but I cannot do that either: I receive a "Failed to privileges for [user] (NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED)" message. What the heck am I missing? Any help would be appreciated, as this is a critical feature for me.
