CHKDSK. In the event logs under application event ID 35 sourceOutlook, the error "failed to get the scope crawl manager with error=0x80004005" occurs one time when Outlook 2007 is started. After this failed to get the crawl scope manager with error=0x8007043c error occurs once, the following error occurs about a ten times a second, "failed to determine if the store is in the crawl scope (error=0x80004005)". It occurs so often, it begins overwriting the event log. The only reason I even caught the first error is I cleared the event logs, started Outlook 2007, and immediately went to the event logs. The error does continue to failed to determine if the store is in the crawl scope outlook 2016 occur after Outlook is closed. And I verified in task manager that Outlook is shut down. So, the error does not start until Outlook is started, but after Outlook is stopped, the error continues until the PC is rebooted. Internet searches return nothing useful on this error. And all apps are working correctly on the PC. There are no other event log errors. And it is a pretty standard business PC. All updates installed, no games or Internet downloading or streaming.Rick Sunday, July 22, 2012 1:10 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Hi, Based on my experience, the issue is related to Windows Desktop Search. To understand the Crawl Scope Manager, you must understand the following terms: •A crawl scope is a set of URLs pointing to data stores or containers (e-mail data stores, databases, network file shares, and so on) that the indexer crawls to index items. For a hierarchical data store, the crawl scope can include a parent URL but exclude a child URL and vice versa. Items within the crawl scope are indexed; items outside the crawl scope are ignored. •A search root is the top-level URL identifying a container or data store that is associated with a particular protocol handler. Search roots can identify locations that are specific to a user, that are on a remote computer, or that match a wildcard pattern. When you add a new data store or protocol handler, you should also add a search root to the crawl scope. •
