in another thread here on this forum. Any suggestions? Monday, February 14, 2011 12:30 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote This issue is now solved after I went on a Microsoft-course. The thing is to unplug or disable the NIC and not to shut the server down. One must be 100% sure of extending active directory schema failed exchange 2013 that you have the correct FSMO-roles, logged on as a schema administrator and that the AD is in good shape. Also you need a system state backup. By the way. My teacher at the course told me specifically to have the DC unplugged since if you get an error it replicates the error. Join Now Hi everyone, I've made a stupid mistake and hoping that the damage won't be too https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/315136-ad-schema-extension-failed-what-now terrible. I'm trying to install a trial of Microsoft SCCM 2012 to manage apps and Windows deployments. I ran the prerequisite check and it gave me a warning saying I should extend the Active Directory Schema to get the full benefit of the program. I attempted to run the schema update from a non-DC server with the domain admin account. These were the errors I got in the error log "ExtADSch.log": <03-19-2013 failed to 15:06:39> Failed to create class cn=MS-SMS-Management-Point. Error code = 8202. <03-19-2013 15:06:39> Failed to create class cn=MS-SMS-Server-Locator-Point. Error code = 8202. <03-19-2013 15:06:39> Failed to create class cn=MS-SMS-Site. Error code = 8202. <03-19-2013 15:06:39> Failed to extend the Active Directory schema, please find details in "C:\ExtADSch.log". After I attempted the procedure I read that if it didn't work I should restore the failed to create system state they wanted me to create in step one. Like a bonehead I didn't create the system state backup. Did I just cause damage to my Directory? Looking at various sites yields inconclusive results. Thanks for your explanations. I'm learning my lesson, I'm just hoping it doesn't mean I'm up the creek. I think you can edit the schema update file and try again. From memory there are settings that you need to manually configure in the schema file prior to doing the import - you have to manually change some settings if you are upgrading an Active directory that was extended for SMS and have to change some LDAP entries for your correct domain name. I would try again and see what happens when you go through the C:\ExtADSch.log abd fix the entries mentioned. This is all from memory - sorry, if I find some more information I will post. But, I certainly dont think you have
