Details So I lately have seen a lot of posts about the "Failed to bind to port..." message so I decided to post a solution for all of those. Just to make sure: The message
Minecraft Failed To Bind To Port Fix
has generally NOTHING to do with your router or port-forwarding! Common solutions The problem is that another instance of the server is already running on that port. If you can't find the console to that port it may have crashed. To solve that you need to go to your taskmanager and look for a java process and terminate it. If you have entered something in "server-ip=" in the server.properties file REMOVE IT!The failed to bind to port minecraft server mac local firewall of your computer could be blocking it. Add .jar/java/javaw as an exception. Other solutions The problem can also occur when you aren't connected to any network. You need to make sure that you are connected to your router. Try the following steps: Restart your computerRenew your ipconfigOpen the network and sharing center and Troubleshoot problems (ik that the troubleshooter is sucky in windows but it can help setting up a connection.Check if you have your network drivers installed If nothing works you can try changing the port in the server.properties and check that. If it works then it'll be most likely that something is using the port already (another server/application). If it still doesn't work it's probably firewall issue. You can try disabling it or adding an exception to .jar, java and/or javaw If you have any other solutions or that doesn't fix your problem please post it here and I will try to help and resolve the problem. The server will begin to shutdown, and say "[Process completed]" when its done. Then simply close terminal. cray_Z, 5, 2012 #8 Offline Bertware My BukkitDev ProfileMy Plugins (1) Micro5 said: ↑ It's because he stopped the server with a force quit or without using the correct command. Now when it starts up, it says "Failed to bind port 25565. Stopping server" In fear of making this mistake again, I would like to know if there is a way to "unclog" the port. Any answer will do! Restart your computer. (Hopefully) I will post it as an answer if it works. –nil Jan 10 '15 at 14:31 1 For me at least, it happens because you didn't use "stop". So the server is still binded to your port, so nothing else can be hosted until it's told to stop. –nil Jan 10 '15 at 14:31 I don't know if your the one who upvoted Christian. But if it worked, consider accepting it as the correct answer. We both get reputation. :P –nil Jan 10 '15 at 14:37 1 Download CurrPorts. It will make your life easier. –Oliver Salzburg Jan 11 '15 at 9:54 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote accepted You posted seven hours ago, so the immediate problem may have been resolved by the reboot suggested in another answer. However, as a more fine-tuned solution, you might find this answer valuable: How to close TCP and UDP ports via windows command line. Rebooting the entire machine will end all processes, freeing all ports used by those processes, and that includes the 'defunct' Minecraft server process using 255656. However, if you end that process itself (and any of its children), you will be able to free the port it used. Minecraft i

Everything was working perfectly fine until yesterday when me and my friend were playing and i disconnected and then accidentally exited out of the server software. My friend was still playing when i exited out of the server. He was then kicked off obviously because nothing was running the server. But when i tried to run the server again a message appeared that i have pasted at the bottom of this post. Also someone said to change the name of the server by going into my properties, so i did it and it let me go on to the server but it would not let my friend. Anyone have a clue what to do? Thanks it is much appreciated! Below is the message that appears when i try to open the server [INFO] Starting minecraft server version Beta 1.7.2 [INFO] Loading properties [INFO] Starting Minecraft server on 99.149.127.246:25565 [WARNING] **** FAILED TO BIND TO PORT!
