I have modules "module_parent", "module_a", and "module_assembly". module_a and module_assembly are children of module_parent. module_assembly has a declared pom dependency on module_a. module_assmebly has the assembly plugin, with the assembly.xml looking like:

January 18, http://olafsblog.sysbsb.de/per-assembly-filtering-with-the-maven-assembly-plugin/ 2010 · 2 Comments The maven assembly http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-assembly-plugin/advanced-descriptor-topics.html plugin is an extremely powerful tool when it comes to creating custom distributions (aka assemblies) of your artifacts for individual platforms etc. However, the ability to create failed to multiple variants of an artifact within a single build conflicts with the standard maven approach of using multiple build profiles and executing a single build for each profile to generate artifact variants. This also means failed to create that mavens resource filtering is not very useful for individual assemblies, since you can only replace placeholders such as ${someValue} with the same value for all assemblies (since resources are only filtered once, using the active profile(s), for all assemblies). You can, however, configure the maven assembly plugin to use individual filter property files for each assembly using the Usage FAQ License Download Advanced Topics Assembly Descriptors ModuleSets Examples Examples Index Single Project Filtering Some Distribution Files Including/Excluding Artifacts Using Component Descriptors Using Repositories Multimodule Projects Include Module Artifacts Include Module Sources Sharing Assembly Descriptors Project Documentation Project Information Project Reports Maven Projects Ant Tasks Archetype Doxia JXR Maven Parent POMs Plugins Plugin Testing Plugin Tools Resource Bundles SCM Shared Components Skins Surefire Wagon ASF How Apache Works Foundation Sponsoring Apache Thanks Advanced Assembly-Descriptor Topics Quick Note on All includes and excludes Patterns excludes take priority over includes. Archive file resolution If two or more elements (e.g., file, fileSet) select different sources for the same file for archiving, only one of the source files will be archived. As per version 2.5.2 of the assembly plugin, the first phase to add the file to the archive "wins". The filtering is done solely based on name inside the archive, so the same source file can be added under different output names. The order of the phases is as follows: 1) FileItem 2) FileSets 3) ModuleSet 4) DepenedencySet and 5) Repository elements. Elements of the same type will be processed in the order they appear in the descriptors. If you need to "overwrite" a file included by a previous set, the only way to do this is to exclude that file from the earlier set. Note that this behaviour was slightly different in earlier versions of the assembly plugin. Advanced Artifact-Matching in includes and excludes When using dependencySet or moduleSet, the
