However I think that I need more some more help as the problem still persists. Here is the situation:I moved a user mailbox from one mail store (with restrictive limits) into another mail store (without restrictions to limits) becuase they filled up their quota and needed to send out emails. After the move the user was again able to send out emails. The next day the users Outlook 2007 SP1 could not connect to the exchange 2003 SP2 server. Looking into Exchange System manager is showed that the mailbox was disabled. Only options were to reconnect or purge and the reconnect would not allow him to connect. So I copied the users email into a PST and then purged the mailbox from the server.I used Exchange tasks to delete mailbox and then removed exchange tabs. I then proceeded to create a new mailbox for the user which completed successfully. However I would get the dreaded Event ID 1205 stating that: Failed to create the mailbox with error code 0x50c. I have gone as far as deleting the user and the mailbox. But now the problem I have is even if I create a complete different user and mailbox I still keep getting the same messsage that "Failed to create the mailbox" for the original user. Is there somewhere that I can tell exchange to stop trying to create that mailbox?Any help would be greatly apreciated and sorry for the long post.Cheers, Thursday, March 27, 2008 1:34 PM Reply | Quote Microsoft is conducting an online survey to understand your opinion of the Technet Web site. I'll post one of them here, and hopefully it will point to a global problem. I've deleted users from AD, and their mailboxes have been purged from Exchange. But I"m getting an event https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/22901761/Failed-to-create-the-mailbox-with-error-0x50c.html log error: Failed to create the mailbox of /Odomain=/OUdomain=/cn=Recipients/cn=username with error 0x50c Additionally, though this user is no longer a member of any distribution lists now that i've removed the user account, people are getting undeliverable errors for this address. Do I have a lingering object somewhere? If so, how can I clean it up? Also, distribution lists aren't showing up in GAL in a timely manner. Lastly, I've organized AD so that I have users separated into their own OU's for simplicity. Now, when some users send to an all employees distribution list which had been set up prior to the ou creation, random people are getting undeliverables to some of the names on the all employees list. Is this common? Do I have to remove and re-add those people to the distr lists? I tried looking through adsiedit for the object in case it was hanging out there but was unable to find it. 0 Question by:IDPInc Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 9 Best Solution byQBRad http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996466.aspx Go to Solution 9 Comments LVL 2 Over
80GB and we were preparing to transition them to Exchange 2010. In the meantime they decided to move some mailboxes out of the default database to another database. The logs http://www.networksteve.com/exchange/topic.php/Cannot_access_mailbox_after_move_to_new_database,_Exchange_2003/?TopicId=15030&Posts=4 indicate the move was successful, yet at the same time we are seeing Event 1205 saying the mailbox could not be created with an error code of 0x50c: Event Type: Error Event Source: https://johnnyyaodotcom.wordpress.com/2009/11/11/ticket-exchange-is-mailbox-with-error-0x50c-get-mailbox/ MSExchangeIS Mailbox Store Event Category: General Event ID: 1205 Date: 6/18/2010 Time: 8:43:23 AM User: N/A Computer: Server Description: Failed to create the mailbox of /o=Customer/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=mailboxname with error 0x50c. The mailbox failed to is visible in the new database, but cannot be accessed by any client or by OWA- either access denied or system error is returned. Looking online I'm seeing some references to the System Attendant mailbox being corrupted, but nothing definitive. Any ideas out there? June 18th, 2010 11:52pm Hi Jaeddy , The behavior you are seeing with mailboxes is default behavior. Therefore someone must have changed the failed to create permissions on the older server to allow access. However I would point out that I believe that a good Exchange administrator does not need access to all mailboxes by default. It is not a permission I have ever asked for or needed. Adding the permissions on an as required basis and then removing them afterwards is more secure and protects you from accusations of inappropriate access. The access denied errors should give you more information. Is it something to do with mailboxes still being homed on the server? If so that is quite common. Mailboxes are not actually created until they are required, therefore you can have mailboxes assigned to a store and no mailbox is actually seen. You will need to search for mailboxes on that store in ADUC and then "move" them (even though you aren't moving any data, just the configuration). Permissions to open the folders may well have been granted at the store level, rather than the mailbox level. If you have found that you cannot access something after making the permission change - that is not uncommon. Exchange caches permissions. Therefore if you try to access something, find it fails, then change the permissions
