You may have a setting on the store that is preventing you from purging unless you backup first. _____________________________Alan Hardisty http://www.it-eye.co.uk http://alanhardisty.wordpress.com http://www.exchange-certificates.com (in reply to benh) Post #: 2 RE: unable to purge mailbox - 10.Jun.2010 5:08:36 PM benh Posts: 6 Joined: 17.Feb.2004 From: canada Status: offline I checked Limits settings for that store. the "Do not permanently delete mailboxes and items until the store has been backed up" was already unchecked. Error details: MapiExceptionNotFound: Unable to delete mailbox. (hr=0x8004010f, ec=-2147221233) It appears that my mailbox exists on both servers and in both stores. If I delete the mailbox from the 2003 store it also deletes the mailbox failed to from the 2010 database as they are still " linked" . How do I properly complete this migration? Regards, Eric Sep 29, 2009 Flag Post #1 Share Blackuke Guest Hi Smeade, The source mailbox beeing left behind is not too dangerous. It becomes a disconnected mailbox, which will be cleaned up by the store after a while (in E14, the default is 30 days, not sure about 2003). The only bad side failed to delete effect of this is that there's a short period of time when the source store does not yet see the homeMDB change in AD (due to AD replication delays), so it will allow email deliveries into the old mailbox, in case transport is also seeing stale AD data and attempts to deliver into the old mailbox. This condition clears up as soon as homeMDB change replicates everywhere and the caches are cleared. Move mailbox issue: disconnected mailbox remains on source mailbox Store http://exchangepedia.com/blog/2007/07/move-mailbox-issue-disconnected-mailbox.html For already moved mailboxes, you may need to move back and forth to delete orphan mailbox in Exchange 2003 database... Do you know if this hotfix actually fixes the issue? The KB states:..Note This hotfix does not resolve the stub mailbox issue. It adds additional events in the application logs that indicate that there was a failure during the move mailbox operation. For more info

Leave a Comment During a cross-forest test migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 I got the following error: Warning: Unable to update AD information for the source mailbox at the end of the move. Error details: An error occurred while updating a user object after the move operation. -> Failed to find the address type object in Active Directory for address type "SMTP:AMD64". Failed to cleanup the source mailbox after the move. Error details: MapiExceptionNotFound: Unable to delete mailbox. (hr=0x8004010f, ec=-2147221233) When I looked in the old and new environment I found out that the mailbox both existed in the old and new environment. In this case you might have a big issue even when the mail is delivered in the Exchange 2003 environment and the homeMDB attribute is not updated. Updating the attribute may take a while due to AD replication, in this case mail is not delivered in the new mailbox and so mails will not be placed in the new mailbox. To prevent this issue Microsoft has released a hotfix for Exchange 2003 which can be found on the website below. open Share and Enjoy: These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages.
